Thank you. I will do more research on which all pumps to choose (If I get to choose that is )

I hit several patches of black ice/slush on the way but I travelled in first half of June because I wanted lesser tourist traffic and wanted to enjoy riding in snow.

Also to look out is sand blowing out on road en-route to Pangong and Hunder.
I too will be travelling first week of June for the same reason. Will be installing the Puig sliders to protect the fairing incase of mild falls - and I have no intention of ripping her on bad roads. Would rather crawl and enjoy the view.

Thanking you again for the effort you took to write the travelogue.

You get choice of pumps only in Leh town. Not much choice anywhere else.

It is not a question of ripping your bike. It is a question of being comfortable at low speeds riding on broken roads. Which you will not be on a ninja or R15.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Certainly agree. But my point was on falling due to black ice\slush on higher speeds and not comfort.

If you fall due to black ice, it would be a slow speed (10-20 kmph) fall and not high speed crash.

Black ice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ..this was my idea of what black ice was. Lower the speeds, safer you are when you hit it.
I don't understand why crashes on black ice will be only at slow speeds..i guess some one can happen on a patch at high speeds as well - and slide off in a more spectacular fashion
But well.. you are the guy who has done the Leh trip and knows the conditions. So shall take your word for it.

Not everyone who goes to Ladakh encounter black ice.

Black ice is not same as snow/frozen water.

In comparison, its very easy to ride on snow, as compared to black ice.

Unless you are careful about the possibility of encountering black ice, a crash could be at a good speed as well.
Normally you will find black ice on tarmac and got to be careful when travelling through shadows. As you would be riding on tarmac, your speed will be higher.

Ways to avoid hitting black ice is, don't start too early in the morning, if you think you might encounter black ice.
The way to check for the possibility of black ice is, ask the locals, the hotel guy where you have stayed for the night.

                • Several guys have been enquiring about the shop details from where I purchased my clothes.

The shop is located in Juna Bazar, Pune (Near Old RTO). It does not have any name board. The shopkeeper's no. is 9175303987. All the sizes are not readily available so call him before going to the shop.

Thanks for the compliments. But I bet stock market is more rewarding in monetary sense.

                        • You good you, this was one hell of an adventure novel.
I hang out with people who say motorcycle trip, are you crazy? lets go in a car... still i go back to them trying to be optimistic, but no they will not and as usual i hear the same "are you crazy, grow up phani" i wanted to slap them always. I just slapped everyone sending your link, hope they change after reading

there were many but one line i'd pick
"but wife was quite supportive and no objections from this quarter. I know she will extract her pound of flesh later
