Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Firstly, let me wish you a safe ride. Your best route options, in my opinion should be : Mumbai - Pune - Kolhapur - Belgaum, then if you staying in North Goa, go via Chorla ghat - Bichollem - Mapusa. If going South Goa, then go via Anmod ghat which will eventually get you into Goa past Panjim and not far from MargaoOriginally posted by Harsh73 View PostHi... Thinking of doing a Mumbai to Goa ride on Thursday... Can anyone suggest the best route??? And if anyone wishes to join in please feel free.
Thank you in advance.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
No clue how the earlier message got deleted while I was trying to edit it!
So here goes one more try.
I'm planning on going to ganapatipule from mumbai in September. Since NH17 might be screwed up due to road widening, traffic and potholes, I was thinking about going by NH4 till Karad, then to Malkapur, Amba Ghat and then Ganapatipule.
Any idea how Amba Ghat is right now? And how it usually is in September?
Thanks!

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
I am planning a short weekend ride with following route:
Kharghar (Navi Mumbai) -> Dadra Nagar Haveli -> Silvassa -> Daman -> Igatpuri -> Kharghar
Total distance: 508km (as per Google map)
Planned date: September 22-23
How is the road condition? Are there certain stretches which I should avoid during certain time (traffic jam/peak traffic etc)?
Also, anyone willing to join is welcome. Please note that I am slow rider (70-80km/h).
Any help is appreciated.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Going via Karad and Amba ghat makes far more sense than NH17. Even if Amba ghat is a little patchy after the rains, overall it would be a far better ride.Originally posted by vigneshnm View PostNo clue how the earlier message got deleted while I was trying to edit it!

If this is any help to you, I had ridden via Amba ghat in March 2017. See page 20 in the thread below.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
The road from Pune to Ahmednagar which is a total distance of 113 km from Vimanagar is by and large in good condition. The first 20 km or so from Pune the road is a little wavy in its construction and therefore offers moderate speeds. Past Ranjangoan, the 4 lane highway opens up and is well paved throughout till Ahmednagar. This ride offers fast sweeping turns with some cross wind in sections. Best time to leave is early morning, as you will avoid traffic and people at the many small towns that are located nearer the Pune end.
For riders who want to go to Shirdi, do not take the bypass which is indicated a little before Ahmednagar, but instead go via the city. The bypass is a pure off-road experience and will leave you and the bike shaken up not to mention a complete waste of time.Last edited by akshay; 09-26-2018, 11:44 AM.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Anyone has any idea how's the road to Hyderabad? I did this route in March 2016 and Solapur-Pune was pure awesome.
Solapur-Hyderabad was under massive construction so I hope 2.5 years is enough to make sure the roads have become good.Regards,

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
As of October 22, the road conditions via Amboli ghat is in terrible condition. The alternate (longer) route to Goa via Chorla ghat is better but also has some bad patches towards the Goa end. Ride with cautionRide To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Hi guys,
Did a short weekend drive from pune to ratnagiri over the weekend. The road conditions are as follows:
Pune - Mulshi - Tamhini ghat - Nizampur - Mangaon - Shrivardhan - Harihareshwar was the route we took while going.
Some patchwork has been done on the mulshi - tamhini stretch. The drive was a pretty good one due to this.
While returning we took a different route since we drove down to Kelshi from harihareshwar.
Our return route was:
Kelshi - Mandangad - Songhar - Varandha ghat - Bhor - Kapurhol - Highway - back
The varandha ghat road is in bad condition. There are patches of good roads but the majority of the road is littered with potholes and should be avoided.
