Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Guys, just got back from a 1300 km sojourn undertaken during the extra long weekend.
Mumbai - Kolhapur - NH4 - As usual boring.
Kolhapur - Gaganbawda - Talere - Pathetic, Road full of potholes till Gaganbawda. Much better in the ghat and towards Talere.
Mithbav - Ratnagiri - Abloli - Savarde - MSH4 - Coastal Highway - 3rd time on it. Superb road, one of the best.
Savarde - Polladpur - NH66 - My all time favourite.
Polladpur - Panchgani - Ambenali Ghat - Old school ghat, been a long time but still one of the best.
And back to Mumbai - NH4 - Same old boring.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Hi guys, pls help to know about road condition of Edappally-Panvel highway (NH 17). Planning for a solo ride from Calicut to Goa (616kms) this month last or first week of november. I never rod on this strech. Just been on car last year.

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Pune to Goa via Belgaum and Chorla ghat on NH4 / AH47 is superb throughout.
Goa to Pune via Sawantwadi - Ratnagiri - Chiplun - Poladpur on NH17 is 95% superb except for a short patch in Chiplun. Poladpur via Mahableshwar / Panchgini is terrible especially the stretch from Pratapgad to Wai (town). Wai to Pune on NH4 is okay.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Can someone tell me how the road condition at Gaganbawda ghat, post-monsoon is? Planning a ride to NH17 and thinking of crossing over from NH4 to NH17 via Kolhapur.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
The stretch of ghat connecting Wai MIDC to Bhor is in bad conditions after the monsoon. Except for around 5 km, the rest is avoidable. This used to be a superb stretch around 6 months ago but now pathetic save for the beautiful scenery of the hills.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
NH 17 a.k.a. NH 66, the stretch of road between Poladpur and Ganpatipule is superbly paved and curvy. The Panchgini and Mahbleshwar roads have been somewhat patched up and now not as bad after the hammering that it took in the monsoon.Ride To Live

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Hi everyone.
I am planning a trip to Hyderabad from Mumbai. I will be riding a Royal Enfield Classic 500.
I've heard that up to Solapur, the road is exceptional but afterwards as you near the border it gets worse. Is it true?
It'll be much appreciated if you can offer your help.
Thanks and cheers everyone!

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Hi,
I just went last month to Hyderabad on my 200Ns. The road conditions are as given:-
Pune-Solapur: Excellent roads, u can easily maintain speeds of 120+. Towards.the end of solapur there is a bad patch of around 5kms. Nothing much to worry about. 4 Lane straight roads for these 270kms.
Solapur-Naldurg: Road is single laned, unexpected pot holes but still speeds of 70 to 80 can be maintained.
Naldurg-Omerga-Humanabad: Single lane, work in progress for 4 Lane. Lots of construction. Speed reduces to 60 with lots of slowing down.
Humanabad-Zaheerabad-Hyderabad: Single lane, AP state transport buses drive like maniacs on these roads so be careful. Road conditions improve after Zaheerabad.
Tips:
Start early morning from pune to avoid rush by night volvo buses. 3:00A.M or 4:00A.M is good. Traffic jam at Tembruni is common at night. U will avoid if u leave early. Train crossing just before Zaheerabad causes a lot of jam. It took me 11 hrs with 6 breaks of around 15 min to reach my destination.
Happy Riding!!!!

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
While returning back from Hyderabad I started at 1:30P.M and I was reaching Tembruni around 10:00 when the traffic jam started. This strech is a regular jam place from what I came to know. Had to do a fair bit of off roading to get past the almost 10kms long jam. Once got stopped at border for documents check. That's it. Also since it was very cold when I started from pune I was yearning for a good pair of touring gloves. Hopefully that shouldn't be a problem now. I guess that's some problems I faced. Hopefully this helps

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Suggest you go via Pune and take the turn off at Wai for Mahableshwar. If you are looking for smooth and relatively high speed roads, this is your best bet. This route will also help you avoid that mess at Vadkalnaka if one took the Mumbai-Goa highway. Kashedi ghat is in super condition, just be careful whilst overtaking. Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra
Yea i did precisely that, went via Wai last weekend. Roads are lovely, and made it in 3 and a half hrs since i left really early... Avoided the other road as the highway isn't divided with a physical divider, making it a lot more risky during overtakes just like you mentioned.Originally posted by akshay View PostSuggest you go via Pune and take the turn off at Wai for Mahableshwar.
