All over mumbai from Inside streets to Main Express Highway's.
The worst road I've seen along Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and other states.

Being a so popular states the roads are so god damn bad.
Rip Bike's part and really feels so bad when the bike goes in a Blind - Hole suddenly when You're accelerating or 70-80+. May lead to bad accident too.
The highway which connects to Delhi, Surat, Ahmadabad and many other main places like Bandra and other Main palces of Mumbai, The Great "Western Express Highway" Oh My God.

    It Sucks !
First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

this might be too late a response to ur Q, however the answer is 'No'.
2-wheelers of any kind are illegal on the mumbai - pune express highway.
so after u cross the mcdonalds @ the kharghar - koprae junctions, u will have to take the left-side underpass & head right towards panvel on the old mumbai-pune highway.
weeks back i got on the expressway 'by mistake' & was promptly pulled-over & fined by pandu's patrolling the expressway.
the beginning of the expressway also has large-loud-&-clear reflectors that say 'entry for 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, bullock carts forbidden on the expressway' ;-)
u may ride a 2-wheeler on the expressway provided u r a minister, a pandu or an IRB [indian road builders Ltd.] staff :-)

        Hi Guys,
Had been to Anjarle this past weekend. So would like to update you guys about the road conditions.
Especially the SH after Lonere. NH17 is in a good condition but as all of us know that a lot of work is
going on in order to widen the highway. So one will find some traffic and a lot of diversions enroute.
While going to Anjarle one has to leave NH17 a few KMS after Mangaon and take a right turn near the
        town/village - Lonere.
However, when I reached there and checked with a few locals, I was told that the Lonere-Goregaon
road is in a bad state and they advised me to go further to Tol phata and then take a right. Its faster
as the road condition is better. Followed their instructions and it was indeed helpful because at a junction
I was lost and as a result I witnessed the bad condition of the Lonere-Goregaon road. So instead of
taking a right at Lonere, go further up the NH17 say about 6-7 Kms till you see a small board on your left.
It will read as "Tol phata" in marathi. Please take a right from here and reach Ambet. Also around
Mandangad and Palawani , some road work is going on. So some patches are good now but some parts
are still in a bad condition.
Google Maps - [as per the map - instead of taking a right at point A(Lonere) , take a right turn at point B(Tol Phata)].

Just a small update from my side.

I have already mentioned that the other route i.e Tol Phata to Ambet - is faster and the road condition is also better.
As far as the route that u ve mentioned - (panvel-mahad-kashedi-khed-dapoli-anjarle) , this route is definitely longer in terms of KMS to be covered.
                Lets discuss it :-
                1) Panvel-Mahad-Kashedi-Khed-Dapoli-Anjarle - more kms but good road almost till Anjarle. Dapoli - Anjarle (25kms approx) though not like a highway its still much better.
                2) Panvel-Mangaon-Tol phata-Ambet-Mandangad-....Anjarle - less in terms of kms compared to route 1. However, one has to calculate the difference in such a case. From Tol phata to Anjarle (almost 70kms) the road condition is not that great and definitely not like a highway and the route is all mountainous with ghat sections and goes through small villages. So it defninitely takes some time to cover the distance as you can't ride the way you would on the highway. So all in all i think the situation is like - you save somewhere and you end up spending somewhere.

So i think even though your route is longer , i believe you should still be able to make it in almost the same time as you would with the Tol phata route. Give or take an hour. Hope this helps ! All the best !

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra

Just did a three days trip.....The Road stretch from Sinnar to Kopergaon is very bad.... And then the road stretch to Vaijapur is also not that good. The SH-30 is just awesome and I guess it is newly laid...

Re: Updates on Road Condition: Maharashtra

Planning to do a trip with the aim of covering places along the Western Ghats. I realize it has been pouring in many parts in KL, KA & MH and the trip is not going to be easy. I’m looking at entering MH through Belgaum & then riding through Kolhapur, Satara to reach Pune, and from there on to places around Pune like Lonalva, Varandha Ghat, Matheran, etc. Can someone please provide updates on the condition of roads in these places?

The beast comes alive, bringing me back to life
A tap to shift and flick of the wrist
The beast takes flight bringing me back to life
Kill the silence, tear apart the dark
The beast rips the road, hell yeah, i feel alive.

Hey bro, I'm planning to go to Lonavala from Andheri next week. I was planning to take this route JVLR -> Powai -> Eastern Express -> Thane toll plaza -> Old Pune Road to Lonavala
Is this right route? And how are the roads there?

Yes no issues with route.... Roads are awesome... From Thane to Panvel you may get traffic or patholes, if you wanna avoid that take New Mumbai Route, Exit from Eastern Express highway towards Airoli & Go Towards Panvel from there... Follow signs afterwards

Planning to go to Goa from Pune via NH17, I think it was mentioned a couple of posts back that NH17 is by and large in good condition. How is tamhini ghat? is it rideable? or is khopoli-pen-vadkal a better option to get onto NH17? (I know I could take the mahableshwar-poladpur road too, but I am meeting up with some people from Bombay)

How good is this road ? Is it safe ?
