Me and a few of my friends are planning for a Leh trip. We are planning to spend 15 days on the road. The mode of transport we intend to go with is bikes plus a support car. I am assuming within our group, there could be around 9 people; so 4 in an innova and 5 bikes is what we were planning with.

Since we are all from Kerala; and since we are clueless about what happens up there, i thought i must ask a few questions here on behalf of our group. With the enthusiasm that i\\\'ve seen on all those Leh\\\'d stories, I\\\'m sure you guys might be able to at least point in the right direction.

We are in the planning stages now. Hence need some support from the experienced tourers in the forum. Any pointers will be appreciated.

1. We are planning for next July for travel. Will we get bikes for rent? if yes, which is the best bike to rent and where can we rent it from? we are all 40 plus yrs old (not as agile as many of you are). Also, if we were to start from Srinagar and then go to Leh, will we get bikes & innova for rent from Srinagar?

2. Best route & itnerary to cover Leh Ladak and the surrounding areas.

3. Is the Chandigarh-manali road still in the same condition as is mentioned in the blogs here? (most mention it as pathetic. Hence the question)

4. The climate/temperatures at that time in the area ( for appropriate clothing)

5. It would be perfect if you could help with permits needed and where to obtain them from.

Putting up some specific questions which havn't been answered before is what will elicit responses out of members. Maybe you could come back with a route plan and specific questions on those.
As far as non-Hindi speaking goes, its not a deal breaker. Foreigners have been doing this route much before Indians were bit by the touring bug. Gladiator will definitely struggle at some places. You could get in touch with [MENTION=47733]Hoodibaba[/MENTION] as he has been a regular on the circuit on his Caliber.

I am planning to ride my Gladdy(if possible i'll take my rxZ), and my friend has not decided yet (most probably he'll be riding >150cc machine), if I could catch somebody riding from south with Hindi knowledge I would be the luckier than ever.,

Thank you for the approval! I have read most of the Travelogues but I wanted to discuss by considering my own situations, pros and cons from my side, language problems I don't have hindi knowledge so and so on.. so It would be easier if it is discussed now itself.,
