Aaaaahhh!! So Fablous Pics,yaaar..the place is realy awesome!! would surely visit it..can you throw some light on it!!Originally posted by anshul uniyal View PostBrilliant thread. WIll have to dig out a lot of old photos.
well apart from the above mentioned destinations one can also do delhi-rishikesh-devprayagd-srinagar- ukhimath-chopta- deoria tal. I did this in jan2007 and stayed the first night in devprayag and then went to Ukhimat and then explored chopta and deoria tal.
The other place good to explore is the nauchiketa tal near Uttarkashi. And form Uttarkashi, one can go ahead to Harsil, which again is a brilliant place. The route: Delhi- rishikesh-narendra nagar-chamba-cham-uttarkashi-Harsil
For nauchiketa tal, you can keep uttarkashi as your base.
Am attaching a few of my pics of deoria tal and chakrata(DEOBAND)
The place,route,time needed! etc etc!

Are you sure all these places can be done in 3-4 days from Delhi? Can we also have the distances please? Thanks for your inputs.

Hey Aryan that's deoria tal near ukhimat in Garhwal. It falls under the Nanda Devi national park. Have mentioned the route in my post. Will write the detailed logs soon. One has to trek around 6kms to reach there.Originally posted by Aryan View Post@Anshul: The first picture is tremendous. Which lake is that? Care to share the route/ way to reach the place, please?
Also, there is a provision of pitching the tent there. Have spent a night there and the experience is worth it.Last edited by anshul uniyal; 04-01-2009, 12:10 AM.

Rohru - Chakrata around 7-8 hours. Its not difficult but challenging
Chakrata will be a bit off the route if you wanna do rishikesh. For that you would have to follow this route i.e. Tiuni-Naugaon-Vikasnagar-Haridwar-Rishikesh. So i would suggest stick to Chakrata only.
You could follow this itenarary if it suits you(ex chandigarh):
Day 1: Chandigarh - Shimla - Rohru (220 kms)
Day 2: Rohru - Tiuni - Chakrata (~125 kms)
Day 3: Chakrata - Poanta - Chandigarh(205 kms)
Quite poss
That is nice. But I hav to return Delhi & hav another day spare..... so rishikesh could be added.
So, if I follow Vikasnagar route to Haridwar.... I'd skip Chakrata, rite ??? How s this road....
Another thing, is it ok to carry a pillion ?

Well I'm more keen on doing the shimla - chakrata route. Just had some queries:
1. State of road after rohru as reading in google plays havoc in mind.
2. From Rohru to chakrata - how much time, is it easy or difficult?
I plan to do this in three days, starting Chandigarh & visit Rishikesh while coming back..... psbl?
Dates fixed: departure on 9th of April at 2 pm. Back by 13th evening.

I did it the other way round via chandigarh. But my motive was just to enjoy the ride and the journey, rather than the destination. 3 days would be sufficient, but not enuf if you want to explore rohru

@Aryan/DesiDeep: Yup, thats the Naini lake. This was taken at round about 1 o clock in the afternoon in July last year.Originally posted by Aryan View Post@DD: That is the Naini lake, I believe. It's just that the weather was like that when Mik clicked it. The exact same place, when I went there in the month of January-February, this year.
@Mik: Am I right?

Sharing another pic.. just 30 mins after i clicked this pic

Desi if you want that kind of atmosphere and aura then i would suggest that you go to Nainital in the month of June.
It's simply awesome there.
