Awesome Kurt, really looking forward to hearing about this ride of yours. The teaser pic is simply marvelous. Bring it on buddy.

Concluded a recent trip to Tehri this weekend! The highlight of this ride, in particular, was getting drenched in snowfall for a good hour in Theog, and wheel spin on black ice, kilometer after kilometer
A teaser:

Travelogue writing will be delayed owing to sudden increase in official work! Kindly bear with me as I too am looking forward to sharing "especially" this experience of mine.

Yes, Kurt heard about it from a friend who stays up there.Originally posted by kurtrules View PostIt is snowing crazily in Himachal. NH-22 blocked at kufri and then at Nakanda. Plan your trips to Himachal accordingly.
Snowfall breaks dry spell in Himachal Pradesh
It is GOOD news, no-doubt but this gloomy weather doesn't leave much to photograph (which is my sole purpose). However, if not now, I'll be visiting some-place in Himachal (or even higher up) in a few days' time.

Okay, here is my little informative guide, if you may call it, on Chaukori followed by a few photographs.
Text and Photographs Copyright: Aryan (Bobby) - xBhp.com
Chaukori is a tiny village, located at over 7,200 feet above sea level, in the Pithoragarh district. Located among the lofty peaks of the western Himalayan Range in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand, it is a brilliant little village to spend some quiet time.
To the North of Chaukori lies Tibet and to the south is Terai. The Mahakali River, running along its eastern boundary, forms the Indo-Nepal international border.
Chaukori's elevation is 7,200 feet, with a spectacular view of the snowy peaks of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and the Panchchuli peaks. It is approximately 10 km from Berinag, another little hill station.
This past long weekend, I was there for photography purposes and simply to chill. Here are a few photographs of Chaukori, as seen from my lens.
If you guys want more photographs, let me know, and I'll oblige.
Route: Delhi - Hapur - Gajraula - Moradabad - Rampur - Rudrapur - Haldwani (250 odd kms.)
The route, once hills star is: Haldwani - Almora - Bageshwar - Chaukori (230-240 kms. odd)
From Haldwani, you can either catch a bus, which takes about 8 hours to drop you to Chaukori, or you can take a shared cab. If you do plan to take a shared cab, please bear in mind that you would need to change the cab at several places, as there is no one cab that goes directly to Chaukori. However, you can hire an entire cab for Rs.2000/- which would directly drop you to Chaukori.
You can continue on to Munsiyari from Chaukori, which is around 100 odd kms. from Chaukori. My initial plan was to stay at Chaukori on 23rd and move onto Munsiyari on 24th, but I absolutely fell in love with the place, and skipped Munsiyari for this time.

Thanks dada surly I'll not grow over-confidentOriginally posted by Aryan View PostThe roads are good most of the way, with a few exceptions of course. However, for a biker, it is very much rideable albeit a little risky at times. If you do plan to ride there, don't grow over-confident at any moment of time.
