Re: Tyres
Has anyone seen the RE Himalayan rear tyre available in stores ?
Its the CEAT Gripp XL 120/90-17. I tried reaching out to the customer care for CEAT and they are quite clueless about this, even the distributors in Bangalore haven't heard of this tyre yet.
I know its a tad too early, but its been a few months now that the Himalayan has been released. The tyre should be available in stores, unless it is going to be exclusively sold as RE spares ?

Re: Tyres
OK thanks, ya i saw that the front tyre has front written on it, Would the thinner rear tyre do any harm. I ride solo only 99% of the timeOriginally posted by vvk1999 View PostIt's not safe to use rear tyre as front since they are designed for separate purposes. Rear tyre is designed to carry more weight, so when it's loaded it performs best. But when u use it at front it will loose traction .
Not recommended.

The original were mrf zappers but they turned bald and i had to replace them. Since i was novice back then didnt knew much about tyres , so went to a shop. The tyre shop sold me a ceat 3inch rear tyre(its been an year though around 7000km). Now i have seen many pulsars with 120 or 100 rear tyres, so i am thinking that would the thinner tyre do any harm . i have to get the front tyre replaced , so was thinking that i should move this tyre to front (that also being 18 but 2.75in) and get a new 100/80 tyre for rear. Is it advisable or should i continue with 3in at the rear. My riding speed is about 60kmph and its mostly on tarmac road

Re: Tyres
Yeaa..you can..but you would have to remove the chain cover. And you would have to compromise in acceleration also. Why 120? 100 is the best.Originally posted by akvg2009 View PostCan I fix 120/90-18 on my hero xtreme rear...?

Re: Tyres
Hi ,
I changed my CBZ Extreme tyres
Back-- Zapper Vyde 100/90 - 18 tubeless - cost Rs.2300
Front - - Zapper FS 80/100 -18 tubeless - cost Rs.1700
Two valves as I am changing from tube type to tubeless - Rs.200
6 month nitrogen - Rs.150
The total cost was Rs.4350 . I changed it from MRF centre - Prem tyres , Chembur , Mumbai . Zapper Vyde 100/90 - 18 is hard to source. Also the lady in the shop told me that there is a 3 year warranty .
60 Km done now. Feels good and the grip is also very good. I don't corner much normally as I had a fall earlier
but now I am able to corner the bike. Have to see how much I can.
And thanks for the help to choose the tyre.
Update
After riding for a good 225Km in Mumbai rains and roads..the tyres are super grippy. You can curise at high speeds an can attack corners very easily. Even if you didn't bend the bike , it will do it automatically
. After a small ride of 30K itself , you will feel the grip and gives you much confidence. Even in heavy mumbai rains, these tyres didn't slipped once. These are not offroad tyres. The vehicle also fels smooth to drive

Re: Tyres
You are correct about the speed rating. But i asked about the letters in the tyre model name. Do anybody know about that ?Originally posted by Nidin View PostGot this information from Wikipedia. Not sure this is applicable to the brand you have mentioned or not.
It indicates the maximum speed at which the tire can carry a load corresponding to its Load Index
C= 60 KMPH
Q= 160 KMPH
Y= 300 KMPH

Thanks but i wanted to know what they mean ? What does the C stand for. something specific or just a marketing name.Originally posted by Nidin View PostThanks for the correction curve_king. So the C,Y & Q are different variants of the same model tyres.

whereas codes given on wikipedia source are universal.
And I don't think anybody will survive 300kmph on zapper y

Re: Tyres
If changing to TL tyres, then ask the person to clean the rims thoroughly. It happened with me when my front rim was not cleaned on the edges and it leaked air.Originally posted by mathewkakkassery View PostOkiee..got it..what about going for tubeless? The bike came with tube tyres but can i use tubeless with stock alloys?
