The pulsar tyres were definetly wider than mine. Initially I though the pulsar was using 110 so went and checked. Its using 100. So I began to wonder how pulsar seems wider when both are using 100's. I thought maybe RIMS may influence the width of the tyre. Checked them out as well and found my ZMA rims appears to be very thin compare to the pulsar. Now, I have not done any actual measurement using some instrument. Both bikes were side by side, so my conclusion is based on observation only. Are my observation correct?

Secondly, I would like to know if there are wider RIMS available in the same style. If so, where can I get them in mumbai.
Not that I'v actually measured anything... but it seems obvious that Y has a rounded profile and C is flat. Hence C looks wider. Its contact patch obviously should be more.

Monster a Useless Tyre! i nstead go For MRF Meteor! 120/80 section 18", you won't be dissappointed!

NO need for that, put a 120/80 Section tyre!

Pulsar's rim size is different, and has got a wider stance,so the tyre seems to be wider than usual..
Thanks dude, but I'm waiting for Zapper Q! 120*18!!

          !
Although pranay has suggested against it has any one done this and tried it out ?
Also pranay has suggested that the front tyer of the FZ could be used in the 220 - anyone tried that.

some how the fz tyers feels musch better gripped that the p220 stock, jsut wanted ot get something better that stock.
          Any suggestions.

bit late to respond , thanks for the feedback and review i too will go for the same for my pulsa 220.

the diffrence is the 120/80 stock and 120/90 sirac
thus Sirac is Larger in size (the outer diameter)
thuis for the one turn of the wheel it will travel further
so at the same rpm of 6K gives 83kmph larger tyer will give faster speed but lesser acceltation

            So
larger tyre increase top speed and reduce accelration.

There is a member here who has done the mod to his 220 and posted pics of it as well. As far as I remember, he required minor modifications like taking out of the half chain cover to put the FZ rear tire on his bike. He vouches for the increased grip the bike has got.

Regarding the FZ front tire, I am thinking of putting it too.

              • i prefer

well for indian roads i prefer the Michelin m45,dulop duro or the irc

                m45
pros-excellent road grip on indian roads
cons:gets totally flatout within mins of puncture

                dunlop duro
pros-excellent at cornering, tubeless so less headache of post puncture
cons:a bit heavy but wind cutting is good so hardly any drop of top speed

                irc
                pros-excellent roadgrip and reliable
cons-very coslty at someplaces, cheaper in bangalore distributer(half the price)

Yes, my take is, narrow rims will not provide the same width as a wider rim on the same tyre. For me. a 120 section rear in karizma rims simply is stretching too far. I feel it will not work as a 120 is suppose to. I'm not particularly concern whether it will fit. It will fit okay as most has already done it. Its just that I feel that its will not work as a 120 is designed for. It will certainly become narrower than it would on a wider rim.

@Racoon. Yes, good insight. I too think a flat surface will provide more contact patch when bike is standing straight, however will lessens as it starts to lean. However this should not effect the overall width of the tyre (not just the contact patch). My take is as "L.P" metioned. The rim is responsible for this. In fact I checked the rims today. Mine is slimmer. A 120/80 in such a skinny rim will make the tyre walls even more bigger than its suppose to taking away some of the width, hence making the circumfrence bigger, which by the way is already bigger than a 100/90. Also a 120/80 in the same scenario may have the same width in equivalent to a 110/80 on a wider rim. This is the reason I wanted a wider rim for my ZMA.

If anyone knows where to get motorcycle rims in mumbai. please let me know.

my brother has an aprilia rx50 1992 model with a cbz angine in it.

the problem is that the front rim is bretty bent, (bought it in a junkyard in italy and brought everything except the engine cus it was a solid block of rust), and i suggested to him that he change it into a motard.

                                what tyres are available in the 120/70 - 18 or 120/80 - 18 sizes.
