WD40 can for cleaning Chain : 90rs for small
Motul Chain Lube (Road) : 510rs (MRP)

Don't buy the Off-road even by mistake. Look on bottle before paying.
And, if you use the spray at each 600-700 Km, This Motul bottle can do 30-35 times easily.
(If used in normal quantity)
No need to dip the chain in lube.
Just keep the bike chain moving in First Gear & Spray the lube using its big straw once not even in the circle moving circle of chain.
And its good to go.

Do not even try to clean the chain with cloth when Bike's ignition is On.
Google for "bike chain lube fingers" and see results before doing chain lube.


P.S. = I like to clean the chain but first I keep the Keys in my pocket not even inserted in bike.

I use the Motul Chain Cleaner to clean the chain and Gear Oil EP90 for lubing it. The Motul is amazing and cleans the chain amazingly well. It costed me Rs. 480 for the Motul.

how is oks 451 comparable to motul?

They both are well known.
Oks 451 is well known in India.
Motul is a world famous brand.
Motul costs near 510as printed MRP but u have no idea about Oks.

All you need is a good chain lube and a chain dust cleaner like WD40.
And, cleaning & lubing on a regular interval of 700-800 k.m. as max depends on the condition its used.

Please do confirm this.

This is a very very controversial subject.

But after many other references & tests. It's already tested that WD40 is mot bad for our O-Ring Chains.

Use it wisely.
Then use a recommended Chain-Lube (Like Motul Chain Lube).

My lube is so sticky, that I wasn't even able to clean the left overs. Its priced at some Rs.300-400. Would quality products also stick as much?

Which brand ?
If its not sticky its not gonna stay on your chain either

And its not too sticky. Its the dust and sand that keeps on sticking & you see a thick layer in a week.
Use some cleaner like WD40 first to clean and it will move the sticky deposit from your chain easily.

Yes you can skip the Cleaner because its high priced.
You can use WD40 even to clean chain.

Its already cleared here that WD40 wont harm your chain but over lubing with WD40 would maybe.
So please surf this thread if you have question like "will WD40 ruin my chain ? / is it safe ?".

And check the Motul lube before buying. Don't buy the off-road lube by mistake.

Buy 90 gear oil from local oil shop or a light motor-oil(fresh) is sufficient for O-ring chain lubrication .

Again Prateek , brake fluid is corrosive . Never use it for any lubrication .

WD-40 is not a good cleaner for chain.

For two reasons:

1) WD-40 contains cleaning solutions that will interfere with whatever lubricant you choose to (TRY AND) apply afterwards.

2) WD-40 is a very good penetrator, and if it does get by your o/x-rings it will contaminate the grease sealed within.
