It's a great idea to put on a coat of wax on a new bike first thing when you get it .
Try to get a tub of waxpol solid wax . Paint / hardware shops will have it .
If you are 100% confirmed that it is genuine turtle wax, you can buy that from that guy for a discount , try half price . I can assure you the wax in it is perfectly good , just the solvents may be dried a bit on the surface ... still usable ok . Natural state of carnauba wax is very hard , as hard as concrete . I have used a very old tin of Burmah-Shell wax , dried and cracked , but worked ok . The thing is that the wax kinds softens or melts when you rub your applicator cloth on it and comes right on .
Also keep it in mind that there are loads of fake Formula 1's everywhere here , avoid it like plague .
Thanks a lot man!! i am trying to get collinite.. meanwhile is waxpol safe.. does it have abrassives?? the shopkeeper said i can buy that turtle wax for Rs.50 also as its with him for about an year and he isnt selling it to any customer too.. it appeared to be genuine.. Formula1 has abrassives (micropolishers) so avoiding it..

Thanx.. Are we talking about the Waxpol in orange tin?? i have the spray.. (other brand) works well but doesnt last long..

So it wont have any scratches and i want to wax it right from the begining.. The most readily available wax here is formula1 but i think it has micropolishers.. Only one shop here had turtle wax but he was very angry on the product.. According to him, he had 3boxes and all were spoiled..(hardened up and thus unusable) and said company doesnt take them back and i cant sell them as it will spoil customer relation.. I need a wax that wont harm my paint and can be used both on metal as well as fairing and stuff.. Please suggest some good product..

i think collinite (suggested by aargee) would also be good..
But a bit costly.. So want an opinion on that..
There is so much stuff on the market these days, most shops only carry the cheaper stuff, the good stuff which should be available (if not, mail order)is as follows:

      1) Collonite, heard lots of good things
      2) Amway silicone glaze, not tried myself though
      3) Abel autowax, this is owned by turtle wax, the stuff is pretty descent and reasonably priced
      4) Autoglym extra gloss protection, I use this in combination with the Abel wax, love it, best thing you get it on any plastic parts, it will wipe off, without staining, one bottle lasts for years on a car, this is my personal favourite and my top recommendation, as used my Aston Martin and I think Jaguar (I'm not talking of the tap/faucet company which is called JAQUAR). www.autoglym.in i think?
      5) Meguires, too many products too choose from, but like autoglym highly reputed.

Waxpol auto polish (solid in orange tub ) and Turtle hard shell ( green tub ) are both clean natural carnauba(palm tree) wax , no abrasives etc . Genuine turtle tins shall have the correct importers stickers with their address , import date , phone number etc details . For 50 , you can try it ... but do check the importers stickers etc . Fake stuff often contain harmful things like rubbing-compounds etc which gives an instant gloss and fools the already fooled customer .

I meant the wax pol glow thing, comes in a yellow plastic tim along with the scrubber. About the spray i really recommend that u try vista once, really neat stuff, i use it for my ZMR fairing, the shine lasts long and makes the paint look just like new, the best part is that even doesn't attract too much dust

It had a sticker other than the label and looked like an import sticker as seen on some other products.. though dint check that exactly.. but even the formula1 had similar sticker.. will check it tomorrow..

Thanks a lot to all you guys for help.. now i know what products to look for..
Also the same shop had a synthetic chamois.. is it any good or i should find a genuine one.. or a microfibre cloth??

Seriously, i was never so concerned about my any car or bike previously.. But its just my love for the new one.. though used products before on bikes but generally local ones.. and the last time i used the motomax (product from pidilite) was a disaster on my pulsar..

              .
Why not take both, synthetic chammies are also good, i use one, had it for years, excellent for drying after washing, microfibres are great for buffing, after waxing and followed by a chamois, will yield you the best results.

Finally, got the Turtle wax tub for Rs.50.. It is genuine.. though very old.. it has an import sticker dated 2006 Shines and feels good after application.. but as it has dried, is a bit difficult to apply.. any method to regain it and make it softer?? though hard and pretty difficult to apply, the result is awesome.. have been trying on many different stuff too (helmet etc..) and it works.. Thank you guys.. Also bought a synthetic chamois and it works its wonders well..

Most upmarket car accessory shops will stock Turtle wax. If you have Metro (retail giant) in your city then u can check what they stock.

Guys, my suggestion would be not to go for international products as there is a fair chance of ending up with spurious ones. The disastrous part being you wont be able to feel its authenticity unless you come across the original one.

Why take chances then? I have used WAXPOL JELLY( polish cum cleaner). It works nice. If you want a superior to it, please opt for Formula one polish.
