Possibly the piston hitting the top gasket or the head itself.I remember your saying that the piston is last oversize...please ensure that the Gasket hole dia is equal or more than the bore hole size, otherwise when the piston comes to top it will most likely hit the gasket..Best to check by assembling only the bore with piston and see where the piston is at TDC...there should be 1 to 2mm gap between top of cylinder and piston top..if it is not there then you should not try to reduce/remove the gaskets..If the gap is there then check the top gasket center hole matching with bore size and fitting.

            • dont go for air filters for aircolled bikes

i got my bike in feb 2010...been having pleasure on it for 17k kms.i have used kn filter. used it for about 6k kms. trust me since then i have just been going to mechanic to get my bike repaired after every few days. one big problem overheat tried jetting everything i actuly rev the engine very hard always... mileage dropped performance dropped. one fine day came..i saw white smoke coming from exhaust. piston rings gone for six in just 5k kms using kn.i used kn for another 1000 kms and i have removed it. i went to a mechanic in chandigarh he helped me out finally with what i wanted. he installed bigger sprockets at rear. he didnt have smaller for front told me to call after 10 days and installed ngk ix sparkplug installed stock filter but i cut the top of the black cover so now i get much better pickup.i told him to tune for 0 to 80 its 1000times better then kn...i get the sound like before tho not tht more rore but still far better then the stock sound. throttle response is mind blowing. my friends love to do wheelie on my bike they say after bigger rear sprocket this bike can go power wheelie on 2nd gear as well.... what i know it i wasted 1700 for kn 1350 for piston rings repair so much on small repairs and i got much better then all this for 550 ngk ix sparkplug and 600 sprocketing. correct me if iam wrong

              • Any K&N Filter mechanic in Coimbatore ??

                Hi friends,

I want to fit K&N Filter to my Pulsar 150 DTSi - UG3.
Is there any mechanic who can do that in Coimbatore?

I prefer a professional with experience as I hear that there may be a need for upjetting.

Also let me know whether there is any real mechanic in Coimbatore who can do bike modifications in Pulsar 'cause there are a lot of mechanics who can "TRY" it, but have not done it before...

                Thanks

                  • K&N has launched Filters specifically for the Pulsars. It does not need any rejetting or any other modifications. Just check at any automobile-spares shop and you should be able to buy one. Check this thread, though it has been installed on the P220, these K&N filters should fit all Pulsars IIRC.

                    • k&n filter query

Hi experts, i recently purchased a r1060 universal k&n air filter for my zma. I am thinking to fix it in the airbox instead of the carb. What jet size should i upgrade to? Also do i need to install a ffe due to the excess intake or is it ok without it. Also about the jets where can i source it in mumbai(suburbs). Thanks in advance

                        • stock replacement filter and high flow(k&N) filter ??

well what are stock replacement filter are they same as k&n ??

how is a filter made , with what types of calculations and requirements ? how can we say that a aftermarket filter is fit to go in the bike ??
asking this because i made a filter myself through the filter skeleton(frame) and the filter material is a type of synthetic sponge used in aquarium filter purpose they have filtering properties and high air flow .

i did it with for my activa as it ran with a paper filter (honda ). After using the paper filter for 2500 kms i changed it to the sponge filter (honda)
both paper and sponge filters are use in honda active

i ran the scoot with my DIY filter but a question arised do i need JETTING ??
what will its cost be ?? should i just say of "up jetting" in any SVC , well many castrol bike points available nearby shall i try them ??

                          thanks for reading very patiently

                              • I will be really (I mean "REALLY") careful while doing this to my bike. Pore size in filter "sponge" are not as same as the one we use for household work. Paper filter is altogether a different issue.

If you really want to screw your engine and dump it, then you can experiment with home made mods. I seriously suggest to go for either the regular stock filters suggested by manufacturers or buy a new filter from popular manufacturer's.

Upjetting will definitely change your mileage and if done by inexperienced mechanics, it will cost you dear.

Weigh all your options before jumping into this scenario.
