@Kiran: Well if you plan to stay here for long or sell off the bike here then think of getting into all this NOC and change in Registration number hassle.

For paying tax in Delhi you need a Delhi address proof, if you reside in Noida(UP) you need to pay taxes here.

and rest assured you can freely ride in this whole region(not just NCR, but whole of North India) WITHOUT worrying about taxes. No one actually bothers to check this here. I took my Van to Delhi(currently commuting Noida-Delhi-Noida, 60 kms daily) Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in last 5 years and no even once anyone asked me about the road tax being paid or not(BR registered vechicle and its not one off case, Aryan da has ML registred Pulsar 180).

But yeah cops DO check papers and are very specifically concerned about PUC as the challan amount is 1000 bucks and fetches maximum bribe.

This local taxes enforcement stuff is headache of the local RTO who rarely come out to check pvt vehicles, commercial vehicles keep them too busy.

For the sake of peace of mind make sure that you have a petrol bill/receipt from TN which is not more than 6 months old and tell them that you have just come. Keep other papers in order btw..

@Naman: My problem is I'm planning to tour a lot. Although the NCR cpos will not notice, the rest will. In fact, my first ride will be to Agra. It's been my dream to see the Taj Mahal.

I'm going ahead and bringing the bike. Let's see what to do next.

I am riding my MH bike all over NCR region for last 6 months. Haven't faced any issues till date. I brought NOC along with me but didn't bothered to get a new number here as it was a costly affair

Help needed - bike transfer

Hi all,

I was all of a sudden transfered from Chennai to NCR. I'm planning to bring my bike as soon as possible.

With no one there to take my bike to the RTO, I'm in no position to get the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Chennai RTO.

My question is: Bringing a bike sans the NOC - is this practical? Will this create any trouble? Since I have no NOC, will I be able to reregister the bike (if required)? This is what I'm thinking.... bring the bike, pay the Delhi road tax and ride with TN registered number plate. I'm sorry if my questions sound lame.

There is a national intergrity of various state vehicles in my office - KL, TN, KA, AP, MH, HP, RJ, apart from the regular PB, UP, DL, and HR vehicles. I know this is common across the NCR region. I indeed interacted with few bikers and they said they haven't faced any problem riding with non-NCR number plates. FYI, most of them haven't been out of Noida yet!

Btw, had a talk with Agarwal Packers and Movers. They are quoting me Rs 6.5k to transport my ZMA from Chennai to NCR. After some negotiations he came down to 6k. Is this a good price? As Naman said, they charge more than others. But they are assuring me that the bike will delivered sans any scratch. I'm happy with their assurance.

finally got my bike to Chennai in train(name-DDN MAS EXP,no-2688).
total expenses - Rs.2470.

Guys, check out Agarwal Packers and Movers. They have a pan india presence. Although they charge a little more than others but they transport your bike in a good condition.

I used their services to get my bike from Pune to Delhi. They come to your place, pack the bike in front of you using bubble polythene, cardboard and gunny bags. Also they will deliver the bike at your door step.

PS - My bike (ZMA) was delivered with no damages and scratches

how did you contact them?
I wrote to them and also mailed them my contact details and the details of the service I wanted... but no one got back to me...
Theres a toll free number on the site which isnt accessible from mobile... any other contact points?

You can bring in any train: TN express/GT etc.
No need of advance booking. Take your bike to the station, get it packed and book it. They usually dispatch it by the next train coming to that place(Chennai).

I had previously took it from Delhi to B'lore and back to Delhi in train as well. Its always little risky and I was lucky both the times. But from my personal experience I can say that even movers & packers are also risky. The insurance money couldn't be compared with the damage.

I'll get my bike from station in a day or two and I hope I be lucky again

Could you tell me the name of the train ?
Is booking done in advance or on the day of departure ?

I am thinking of bringing the bike in train as luggage
Previously I had sent my Zma as luggage in train , they put something heavy on the petrol tank which made a big dent...

Other big issue is getting bike re registered in Chennai...

What rate do they charge/km ?

Buddy I don't have the exact charges per km. They charged me nearly 4500 which includes the insurance charge. The insurance charge is for any damage that happens to your consignment during the transfer.
