Well yes, buy pulsar 220 has fiber front. i dont want it to get damage, getting agent will ensure all the petrol draining cleaning tank & all packing & loading it on the train take place under his supervision.

Any ways i got to know that there one transport company who transfer bike in individual steel cage though little bit expensive, but will make sure that bike dont get damage at all.

By transfer, i assume you mean transport your bike. You can ship your bike to delhi and back by train. You can do it by just going to the railway station, filling out a form, packing your bike properly and getting it shipped in advance.

By transfer, i assume you mean transport your bike. You can ship your bike to delhi and back by train. You can do it by just going to the railway station, filling out a form, packing your bike properly and getting it shipped in advance.

Hey friends,

Me and my 3 friends are planning a tour of Bhutan. We are from Valsad, Gujarat and the tour plan is to reach siliguri via flight and transport our bike from Valsad to Siliguri.
So we have enquired for Train transport, Gati transport and Agrawal Packers and Movers.

1- Direct Train is not available from any nearest railway station to Siliguri. So they will move the bikes to Delhi first and then from Delhi to Siliguri. It will increase the risk of damage and mishandling.
2- Gati Transport quoted 6000r per bike single side from Valsad to Siliguri and it will take 20+ days to transport the bike. As well as we have to pack the bike by ourselves or they will charge 1000r per bike if they pack by themselves.
3- Got in touch with Agrawal Packers and Movers. I just put my details for enquiry and within 5 sec got a call from their Delhi office. They assured me that they will take utmost care of bikes and guarantee zero damage. They will provide me exact quote tomorrow morning.

Now I want your opinions regarding which one to choose and for what reasons?

I would strongly suggest Aggarwal Packers and movers. I have used both theirs as well as railways service a couple of times. Problem with railways are:

1. Very bad handelling of your bike. I have seen it with my own eyes how they throw around bikes while loading and unloading. This could be mitigated if you are present at the spot. If not, don't even think about using Railways.
2. Packing: You need to move the bike to the station and pack it yourself. Again, you can pay the railways guy 200 bucks but still, the packing will be just namesake and would not be sufficient to save your bike from damage.
3. Uncertainity: You can not book the place for bike before hand. So, if the railway carriage is full, your bike will be taken in a different train/on a different day. This would mean you won't be present at time of loading and point 1 applies. This could be mitigated by "you know what".
4. Warehousing charges: I am not 100% sure about this but one of my friends said that if the bike delivery is not taken on the day of unloading, it will be kept in railway warehouse and this would add to the costs.

Regarding the second point, if you are shifting for good, get an NOC from Delhi, pay the road tax in B'lore and get a new registration done there. This would seem like an impossible task upfront but persist. It will save you from infinite amount of agony in future!

1. In my opinion, Agarwal packers and movers is a better option. Or you can get in touch with transport companies and arrange a truck with all your luggage..

2. CAUTION! Yes, Bengaluru Traffic Police and Administration are merciless towards outside state vehicles. They won't demand NOC. They will demand everything, from RC to Insurance to License to finally, the PUC Certificate.

You can try what you are saying, though since i don't know anyone who has done this i cannot comment on the outcome. I believe a mechanic should not be cutting vegetables in a kitchen and a chef shouldn't be working on my bike's engine! So i rather let the experts do they job. By that i mean catch an agent who does this everyday and promise him riches for getting it right and pain of death for messing it up. Works like a charm in India [emoji14]

But if you try out the ticket route, then please let us know how it fared, will give that advice in future We will name it the 'Praful Play'!

This coming from the guy who recently rode all over India on exotic Italian machines, while I resign myself to commuting to work on my piddly 8 year old bike

Its not about the money, it seemed to me that the bike is 'definitely' sent on a specific date if one has a booked ticket as opposed to the parcel service where the bike is sent at some point in time. Well that is a problem given that this train runs only twice a week, and you know why we bikers usually ship bikes so if the bike is sent on the next train that just screws the schedule by almost 3-4 days.

More importantly the Arab region like Saudi Arabia or Bahrain. Is it possible?

I saw a few Pulsar's there so I don't think it's entirely out of the realm here. I also don't know if Bajaj actually has a dealer there or if the bikes were imported by some individuals. I also saw a P180 for sale!


If someone can shed some light on this or at least point me in the right direction I would be very happy. Thanks again guys!

Now that would be a sneaky round about way of playing the system. Me likeee Please do try it out and let us know the consequences!

If someone with a reserved seat doesn't board the train, that berth will be allotted to another passenger, rendering your seat booking null and void, while on the face of it that doesn't seem to be a problem, there is one thing that could happen.

TTE when doing the rounds doesn't find the registered passenger travelling. Gives the berth to another passenger and at the next station (Change of TTE) the new information is fed into the booking system. When such information is found that passenger is not travelling with his luggage, you have the Anti Terrorism Squad and bomb disposal guys rushing to your package to see why such sneaky plan had been made in the first place. This is of course based on the hypothesis that the duration of the train journey is long enough for the slow sarkaar to figure out that you aren't travelling on the train and your package is therefore unattended. Chances are none of this would happen and you can happily and safely collect your bike at the destination.

But... Sirjee you are IT guy, why save money Just book the bike and make sure agent gets the bike on the train you desire. Problem solved. Just a few extra monies will be involved which is in any case good for the economy

When i sent my bike via train from Jaipur to Jammu last year, i was asked only for a photocopy of RC, nothing else. Packed the bikes ourselves and were charged around ~₹700 for the transportation.

1. AFAIK booking a bike on the train you are travelling happens at that point of time, not in advance. Though not sure of this.
If you are sending only the bike (i.e. you are not travelling on the same train) then you book your bike and the cargo will be shipped on the first available 'empty' train. Of course agents get it loaded onto the train of your choice and your date, but if the luggage van is full, then even they won't be able to load it.

In case you have a valid confirmed ticket, you can book the bike as luggage. It's better to go to station a day before the departure date. Most Luggage/Brake vans have usually space for 3-4 two-wheelers. So better take you bike early and book your slot. For booking bike as luggage, you'll need a photocopy of the below docs:

1. Ticket, which is confirmed and valid.
2. RC.
3. Insurance Certificate.
4. Photo ID.

If you want to send your bike as parcel, which is you're not travelling by train, you've to go and book your bike as early possible. Normally it may take 1-3 days depending upon the slot available.

PS: There are usually two types of vans available. One remains locked throughout the journey and is only opened at the destination. It is advised to put your bike in this van as it is more safe and worryfree. The other gets opened, if needed, in between. It's a bit unsafe to put your bike here as your bike may get damaged or unloaded at wrong place.

3. Separately AFAIK. If you are travelling then you get charged less, sent without travelling ticket gets charged more.

I took my bike via Duronto from Howrah to Bangalore. The railways cost was 2641 INR. Plus packing charges will be around 300 INR. The guy who packed my bike did so well that I paid him 500 INR. It depends on how you bargain.

AFAIK, If you're booking your bike as luggage, means if you're also travelling in the same train, it may cost a bit more rather than if it's booked as parcel.
