Several IOC Fuel Stations in Chennai offer N2 free with minimum 500 bucks purchase of Xtrapremium. I've been using N2 for about three years now and used to pay 50 bucks a tyre.

Anyways, my experience with N2 is very positive and I'm a fan.

I have however observed that the periods between top-ups have shortened. When I enquired with my old supplier, he responded that the different N2 generators used by the filling stations were to blame.

According to him, his machine (an older version) is from a high precision equipment manufacturer and the quality of N2 - that is the purity was higher - while a lot of the new stations use much cheaper equipment that is incapable of generating high quality (read with less impurities) N2. According to him N2 with impurities will leak faster through the tyre walls than purer N2 - and considering that my top-ups for my car whose tyres he maintains only top up every 3000kms or so when they are rotated ( abt once in three months after loss of abt 2 psi), I would have to agree with him.

On the other hand, my Ninja's tyres need to be topped up about once a month (loss of abt 2psi).

            • can that be filled in normal tyres with tubes apart from tubeless tyres ??
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

Recommended with tubeless tyres only, I'm afraid.

                  • I got my old bike's tubed type tyres filled with Nitrogen this morning, since there was no normal air available. He charged me only Rs.10 for both tyres, filled after deflating. I felt it was good considering others are reporting Rs.20 for each tyre.
So was this a wrong move on those old TT tyres?

I'm not sure I would call it a "wrong" move per se - since nitrogen does basically the same job as normal air - and in this case you didn't have a choice.

I would say that under normal circumstances, it's not sensible to do that because you have to pay for it and the rubber compounds in regular tubes do not have the capacity to withstand leakage in any case, So you would be wasting your money. That's why they are recommended for tubeless tyres, where the compound has a 'self-sealing' ability.

There shouldn't be any difference in the ride quality on your bike - if at all it should improve - but on an old bike I doubt it would be noticeable.

                          • Generally it is not that much advantageous in case of commuter bikes. Moreover 78% of air is itself nitrogen. It is advantageous only in case of Formula cars, High speed racing cars & motorcycles & High load carriage vehicle.
Does Nitrogen creates problem at the time of Leaning, means its a cold gas...I guess then the normal air...

You're absolutely right but it doesn't affect the dynamics of the bike in any way.

                              • Guys I have one doubt if we want to swtich back from NO2 to normal air should we deflate it or we can just top up with air...

Commonsense tells me there is no need to deflate but just want to know for sure!

I am not satisfied with NO2 it made my ride too bumpy I will check the pressure one more time at a different filling station and then I will switch back
