      And sir shouldn't we also looking for the recommended heat range plug? Using a hotter plug can damage piston in long run, though on cold starts the bike starts with bit ease which gives the impression that new NGK hotter plugs are better. A proper heat range of plug is what one should not ignore, I feel.

        Hello xBhp Brothers......Please suggest me on something....I have a NS 200,which uses 3 spark plugs. Is it advisable to change the stock ones to Iridium ones ? Please tell me the pros & cons of them.... If its a YES,then do lemme know about which Brand I shall go for, what's the cost, whether there would be any noticeable change in the performance of my bike...Thanks in advance.

          Nope! Stay stock. Except for maybe better cold starts, no difference. Zilch!

              Absolutely right heat ranges are there because to aid the containment of heat within the plug itself. Cold plugs dissipate the heat in our cade to the block and air cools the stuff that's the reason ngk has 8 and 9

              But most bikes in india if not 90% come with cold plug and it's considering the puny cc we have a hot plug is not recommended unless one is quite sure what type of plug he or she has.

              To sum it up in single word, stick to stock. And yes any spark plugs can be changed to aftermarket ones. You can try Bosch, NGK, Mico or Denso if avlbl.

              Please check the NGK India website they have model wise plug compatibility. If you're unsure stick to stock or NGK conventional. Bjt as i said twin elecs produce more or less the same performance as that of ngk. Hope it clears some air.

                    Spitfire cables are low resistance which means the electricity flows to the plug without any loss, which equates to better spark and better combustion and overall efficiency. Yes using them both "would" result in improved performance.

                      sir what is the correct procedure to install the high performance cables?
                      On my bike mechanic had installed the split fire cable on old oem wire. He said these aftermarket sparkplug and high performance aren't direct fit. There is always a jugad.
                      My point is how will a high performance cable will work with 100% efficiency when it is joined to oem wire.

                        The plug was due change after 8K according to the Service manual but this is the condition so far no complaint and did not replace. Any comments on AFR i am on stock settings.

                          AFR is perfect , so is the plug's condition . Clean up the plug with a bit of fine grit emery paper , regap it correctly and continue to use .

                            • Help me read my spark plug!

                              Above or below (not sure where the pics will go) are images of my current spark plug take a couple of hours ago before the thunderstorm, now why am I posting?
                              Well I have a modified R15, have just done some more mods and have tweaked my ecu fuel map. Now I got the bike back a couple of weeks ago, I have been running a CR9E(IX) plug for a couple of years on the old set up as recommended by Joel, these used to foul up every 1500 km's or so, now with the new set up I think my compression is reduced, the same colder plug would foul within 30-50 km's (although I have tweaked my ecu map at least 8 times in between) , so I changed the spark plug to a hotter one (stock rating, I think) stock is CR8E, I have a champion plug made for Bajaj 220 marked RG6HCC, the 6 is the heat rating which according to my research is the equivalent of NGK CR8E, the CC means double copper or something like that. The fuel map I have tweaked by feel, to give me a good base map, I intend to do a wideband AFR tune up soon, however I am sure with the old map the plug was fully black yesterday morning, I put the new map on yesterday and went for a 13 km ride each way (total 26km), this is the reading after that ride.

                              Now according to my eye/brain co-ordination, my reading is between 12 & 13 on the attached chart, which means I am close to where I need to be, however I don't trust my judgement, now can anyone give me an educated second/third or fourth etc.....opinion on the reading?
