@ shrinath...just remove all inner pads and inner lining and open all zips and wash the jacken in washing machine.... trust me it works out perfect...since yours is a textile jacket it wont have problems unlike leather jackets. i do wash my Nero the same manner once in 2 months!!!!

Guys, my jacket is having a problem. Its not dirty, because after every ride, I wipe it with a wet cloth and dry it in the sun and put it in a dry place. But the problem is that I see that the scotch lite thread that runs over the jacket is wearing out. Its not been an year and its slowly wearing off.
What should I do? Should I ask DSG to do something about it? I had purchased it from Orion Bangalore. I dont want any replacement, but atleast a repair. If that is not possible, do we have any scotch lite marker/pen sort of thing, with which I can repaint that thread?

Also my DSG gloves is having a small tear, it happened right one week after I purchased from Orion motors. When I asked if they could re-stitch it, they blankly refused, saying once given, no return of objects for any reason or whatsoever. Anyhow spent 2k on it, so used it carefully trying not to tear the glove more and more.
Any how I am really not happy with the DSG quality.
        Any help in this regard?

About the jacket yes i have observed chipping of the 3m film on the pipe......you cant do much about since its normal wear and tear....what you can really do is stop rubbing on the piping with a cloth...be it dry or wet. the more u rub the more its going to chip off.....so let it be the way it is.....rest you can wash your jacket once in 2 months if its a textile based jacket.....regarding leathers its better not to wash it....Polishes are avaliable but only requires wiping them over leather parts......

regarding the glove issue its better you give a call directly to DSG Pune or shoot a mail regarding your problem!!!!!
It will help you out directly with the concerned party....when approaching keep all details of the purchase ready and calm down as i can see your bit disturbed (which is natural) but yes take it easy man.....

Thats all from my side....if you need any help let me know!!!!

Wow, thanks for that info. Well its a textile jacket. So no need of polish. The reflective tape, trying to see what solution exist.
Thanks for the concern man. I am using this glove with utmost care, coz, frankly 2.5K on a glove is not cheap. Till now, the tear has not increased, but definitely is a bothering issue. I did not know about this thread. Will mail them and update the same. Hope DSG will read the mail.

                Maintaining your gear

Not sure if this is right forum, but seemed like the best for such a query.

Needed advice on best practices to maintain your gear (gloves, boots, jackets...the works)

Specifically wrt to gloves, I use Rocket's Moto Air. However they have been stored away for the past month or so courtesy the monsoons, and they get covered in white fungus every third day. Have cleaned and dried as much as possible, but to no effect.

Also, the inner layers of my Cramster jacket which are not really required in Mumbai are stored away as well. Are these susceptible to damage and whether any specialy precautions are required for storing them.

@Gahlaut: Fungus will eventually form if stored for very long time. However I don't get fungus on my gloves even after prolong storage, including monsoon. Reason perhaps is because I clean my gloves before storing. Btw, never dry leather in the sun. After wash and dry, I pray the gloves with errr..'leather spray' (sorry, don't remember he name). Fungus tends to accumulate fast when stuffs are dirty. Also covering with bags helps a lot. My leather gloves/shoes remains fresh even after prolong storage when cleaned and stored inside shoe bags.

Many people are apprehensive about washing their gears. Me I just wash them whenever it gets dirty. Careful while rubbing stubborn dirty portions them as they will cause abrasion. Mostly just soak them in detergent, rinse them thoroughly and hang it it to dry is sufficient. Yeah, My riding jacket is mesh and has no leather, so less headache. However my gloves and shoes (sneakers , not riding shoes) are leather and I wash them all the same. And yes, this includes my helmets.

Kaynmantis: I have DSG Mesh with leather paddings on shoulders. Can I just wash the jacket with Detergent water? Also, can spraying them with Leather Spray save them from getting spoiled with rain water? Where do we get the leather spray from?

@rx100.7050: Sorry for late reply. One has to be more careful with Leather than cordura fabric like mine. Just DON'T dry them in the sun, its okay. Have been washing my leather shoes as well as gloves in detergent for years without issue. The leather spray I am talking about are available in any shopping malls, at least in Mumbai. They have different brands with different price. Sprays are mainly used for protection as well as treatment. But for rain protection, I guess Leather lube which is wax based may be best. Don't know if its available as I got mine from US. Even shoe polish will be good. Oh, there are many options if you come to think of it.

Main problem with spoiling leather is drying wet leather in the sun and then not treating them.

I face a similar issue with my gear too. My dsg motomesh gloves got torn pretty bad in one of the fingers in about a month of use. Wrote about it in a review on the planet dsg site. But to my surprise they removed or hid that post. My dsg rage jacket (red and white) turns absolutely black in a week. Have to clean it every saturday. The reflecting tapes have now gone dull.. Its a pain maintaining this jacket :banghead:

Jacket gets embarassingly dirty within a week (I use daily). I dust them every day but theres a limit .
Im gonna try this one. Cleaning my dsg rage every week is really tough. It gets too damn dirty(i use it daily too). But i have one quesion- does machine wash spoil the reflective tape?

Re: Maintenance of your expensive riding gear

This thread is quite dormant but I'll post for help nonetheless...

I've been looking for a reputed leather cleaner/ conditioner for use on the Spartan Hyperion jacket for the leather part. I have to wash it as it's quite dirty and as I had stored it in the carton in monsoons, the leather got covered in mold!

The 2 brands that were suggested are not available in malls/ stores in Bombay- Leather Masters and Lexol. In fact they are tough to find even online...
I found Lexol on vicky dot in but after accepting my order they inform that it's not in stock and are offering me this- Meguiars - Leather Conditioner
However I've not heard about the product though the description seems fine- pH balance and all.

Leather Masters is available on few sites but it is very pricey!
I also came across 2 other products in the malls here-

"Force1 Home Care Leather Cleaner"- Found in HomeCentre section of Lifestyle, this seems to be more for leather upholstery than leather garments. Have no idea how gentle it is on the leather etc...

There is this German brand called WOLY Combi Cleaner. This seems to be a quality product but again have no reviews to verify. It's there in a small handy pack that is just right for my needs tho...

I have to choose between Meguiars and WOLY. Can anyone help me make an informed choice?

                                EDIT-
Well, I read this experience y'day after I made the post and I'm quite petrified- Problem with Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner
It ruined the bloke's Merc seats! The same issue may repeat itself as the leather on my jacket too is perforated.....and being new to leather cleaners, it's a headache I don't need. I think I might go for the Woly Combi Care
