I did 18!. Not bad at all. But I need to improve on some critical areas.

    @Satyen:
The last question I answered option 2 :P I usually do that, but dont resort to thrash someone up!

    I couldn't agree more!

3)Thou shalt respect one's own bike.
4)Love thy bike as thy self.
    5)Always wear safety gear.
    6)Alcohol is a strict NO!
7)Thou may lust after thy neighbour's bike specially if its of the R1 kind!
8)Thou shalt ride with 'ultra-most' care and caution when on Indian roads.
9)Thou shalt never leave the engine running at long traffic halts.
10)Thou shalt follow all of the above.

I hope theres no one among us who is in that bracket, mostly everyone is above 15.
      Responsible bikers we are
I posted my results considering i just grazed the good rider minimum basis of 12, well this is just a general quiz which you can easily manipulate to get the desired result and is never a final verdict. The sub-categories of the rider types may run into millions if you try combinations, its the positive/practical attitude and a cool head that will ultimately make a sensible rider.

I'm sorry to burst a few bubbles here but a high score on the self-assessment does NOT mean that you are a good rider.

I myself scored 19 and all this means is that I'm quite a cautious rider. The score is no indication on the skills required to ride or drive. The rider could have poor or great riding skills. Who hasn't already encountered old men riding old bikes or scooters riding along slower than the average traffic speed, respecting all the rules and being courteous to everyone? It's smooth sailing until they are surprised by a pothole or another vehicle that cuts them off. Then, all their years of riding experience becomes useless since they don't have the skills to handle the situation safely.

Yes sir, rode a Activa for 2 years but got my 220 a month ago- first bike. The only bad habit of mine which i want to kill is that i get provoked easily on road. A FZ16 or a R15 irritates me and then it all starts, trying to avoid it these days and trying hard to control myself.

My dad once told me- whether you are a driver or rider, you would bang your car or bike not when you are new to it and learning but only when you gain some "over" confidence.

I appreciate you for your honesty. Regarding manipulation, i wonder what nobel prize will the highest scorer get. Dont think people are posting jacked up results just for the heck of it. If indeed one gtes 7-11 and is not posting, he should keep calm and rethink over his riding style.
My point is if am not riding as i should- i am not embarassed to accept it.

Mishaps or small accidents are a part of life, everyone tries to avoid it but sometimes the inevitable happens. You may practice hard braking 100 times, that will improve skills under such conditions but doesnt safeguard you 100% against any scenario as such.

OT: My dad drives cars from past 30 years and never encountered an accident, when he met last time, it was huge when our Scorpio toppled 3 times so accidents can happen however good your skill levels are.

Depending on my mood, i'm keeping some answers variable.
(and about 5th question, had to choose 1 coz i never had a close encounter, honest )

So my score varies from 9 to 12

People on the road(and me) are lucky my parents got me a gs150r and not gsx1300r(hayabusa). lol

Your answer gives an example to my point. This is not to say that your father is the equivalent of the old man on the scooter but he does seem like a cautious man since he had not had an accident in 30 years. But it seems like when that difficult situation came, he was not able to respond appropriately and sadly he had a big crash. I do hope that he was not badly injured.

Training and practicing emergency manoeuvres like hard braking, counter steering, etc. will only reduce the risk of either finding oneself in a difficult situation or escaping from one without incident. It's not a guarantee.
Just as wearing a helmet reduces your risk of suffering serious head injury but won't protect your from other injuries. It would be foolish to think that since one may die from other injuries, wearing a helmet is of no use.
