  • Yes , you can use the valvoline ( or any other oil ) to top up .. good if it's of the same grade ... ok even if it isn't . I have used all kinds of leftovers for topping-up .There is no known incompatibility between engine oils we use here .It's far more important to keep the engine oil to correct level than to worry about what you use to top up .

      Well as far for my riding skill well I don't rip her at all rather I love to drive in 40 - 45 at 3000 - 3100 rpm. Well now tell me when to change the dam oil as far for the level check well that I will keep in mind after 1200 km. And is it safe to top up your engine oil with any of the oil well it should be W50 grade for sure

      • Need a Suggestion.

        I'm on Motul 300V FS since the past 25,000Kms. No complaints(yet).

        I want give a shot at another another oil.

        -Elf Moto 4XT Tech looks interesting.

        -Petronas 5000T FS- Is it VFM??

        This would be for a R15.

        and Where can I source an Elf Moto 4XT in Pune?

              • Guys, I have been using a Motul 10w40 Semi Synth for the past 3500kms (8200 on the ODO) on my Apache RTR 160. I was using a Castrol Power1 Semi Synth before the Motul. I am planning to switch to a fully synthetic oil.

                Hows the Mobil 1 oil? Is it costly? If yes, then would Motul 10w40 FS be the best alternative?

                Also, is it OK to switch between oil brands frequently?

                  You can change the brand but dont change the W40 grade of oil for RTR.And what's wrong with Motul Semi synthetic?Wont make 'much' difference if you switch from SS to FS though.

                    Since you are not " Jack the Ripper " kind and ride softly the engine oil will surely last for 3,000Kms...Change after that..for top up same grade oil of any make can be used.

                          Guys, I'd been using MOTUL 300V for last 2700kms (odo reading now 9700kms) and now ENGINE feels harsh whenever I'm having a tour of say 50km+, engine is behaving very badly and also pick-up seems to be cut-short. Wants to change oil, plz advice any alternative to MOTUL 300V.

                          Already fed-up with PBK SVC guys for not tuning and servicing bike properly, anybody who knows good mech in Hyd - plz advice.

                            I am going for the FS as I wouldn't have to worry about the next 6000 kms or so.

                            • Today surprisingly in the morning when I was cleaning my bike I just bent down to see the color of the engine oil it was black in color I was scratching my head that when I last filled it was 8991 and now it is 9080= 89 km of a run so fast the color has changed to black.
                              Well the bike is running very smooth no problem there r no issues no black smoke the level is also good but why so fast the color has become black can any one out here who has a pulsar 180 ug4 explain me this funny thing.

                                Sounds like you just drained the old oil and added new oil
                                the residue (remaining of the old oil is still there in the bike oil reservior and esspesially in the nooks and corners and oil filter, that gets combined with the new engine oil and turns the color to black

                                now a days even on 150cc bikes engine oil turns to black with in 300 or 400 kms

                                but anyway that's not going to affect your bikes performance.
