Well, need to knw which Oil to Go For my Honda Unicorn Dazzler. Cost is Not a prob.. i would rather adjust on a few outings then compromise on my bike.

Which would be the best engine oil for my bike, taking into consideration that my bike as of now has K&N RC-1060 filter (Shifting to R1100 K&N nxt month).. and i use the full RPM Bandwidth almost regularly atleast once (not when the bike is cold.. only after the engine heats up a bit)..
I will soon be getting a few more performance mods.. so considering the changes, what would u Senior Bhpians suggest for my Bike ?

Replies will be eagerly awaited. Thanx.
did you upjet the carb? if not get it done ASAP.
As for the oil the shell AX-7 is a very good starter for you bike as i assume you have been on mineral till now.
      Shell AX-7 - SS - 10W40
then you can change to shell ultra FS 10W40,a bit coslty but will perfor greatly in your bike. You can go for petronas range of SS and FS oils, but they make you bike a bit harsh, but are very good oils.
Also check you oil level every 500kms and top up when required.

So do you feel that the performance benefits outweigh the price?

Is paying 800/ltr justified for the kind of smoothness, etc you're getting?

Hey bro... Thanks for your Reply.
Well, i havent been runing on mineral.. hv been using Shell Advance ! Stopped using the Company Oil / Mineral oil After 1st service.

About the 10W40.. wuld be the best ? Hv been reading other posts in the same thread.. mostly the suggestions have been 15w40 or 20w40 !!..
About the cost, its fine.. i am willing to get just the best. even if it means ordering it from somewhere else.. Wont compromise for my beast

So .. what as per u is the best for it ? wuld 10w40 suffice for my riding style ?

Abt the upjetting.. no i didnt .. coz as i said, i am changing to R1100 this week..

read my olderrr posts/threads,you'll see a lot of stuff on unicorn,k&n's etc that you may find helpful.

and abt the oils, wat shell advance have you been using?
the renamed oils are as follows
            Advance Ultra - FS 10W40
            Advance AX7 - SS 10W40
            Advance AX5 - premium mineral - 20W40
            Advance AX3 - regular mineral - 20W40
it will be hard to find a 20W40 SS or a FS as none of the manufacturers make them.Stick to 10W40 and you will be fine,Motuls offerings are also available in W40 grade but i could never find then in hyd,but here goes
5100 - single ester SS - one of the best SS around - costly - 15w50/XWX
            7100 - FS - again 15W50/XwX
            300v - FS - 15W50/5W40

i do not recommend XXW50 for a dezzler.Stick to shell or petronas and u'll do just fine.start with SS for abt 1.8k kms and then switch to FS if you have been using mineral.

Sorry bro.. forgot to mention Shell Advance Ultra.. i've been using that.!
Well, i think i can pull a few strings and get my hands on Motul.. (Probably) !!
So if i do get a XXW40 in Motul, i suppose it wuld be better rite ?
Else will try out for Petronas. Shell has been satisfactory but only upto an extent. So wanna try smthng else.

Also, can u share out some info regarding Upjetting the carb of Dazzler?
M installing the R1100 in a few days, will be needing the info about the Changes to the Mainjet.. ! As this is a Engine Oil Thread, i think it wuld be better if u PM me !

Why do you wanna go for 1100 ? It will b an overkill, Stick to RC 1060 and increase the main jet size to atleast +10,i.e if its 115 -> 125~130 should do.. the way to check it is to revv the engine til the red line in 2~3rd gear, and the bike should revv till the redline with out any hicupps or irregularities. if its coughing beyond 7~8k rpm, increase the mainjet size by+5 till the coughing stops... then again revv the bike in 2~3rd gear till red line and let go of the accelerator only... the revvs will gradually fall and there should not be any spluttering on the way down as well... when both the above critirea are met,you bike is A Ok... do not touch the small jet or the needle, they are ok with k&n's... only change the main jets...

as for the oil,do not go belw 10WXX and above XXW40 weather it is SS or FS... Petronas FS will make the bike more responsive and the acc in 2nd gear(i.e lower Rpm's) will be great, bit at the expense of a little refinement and i recommend to change the Petronas FS at every 3k kms and SS @ 2k kms... try petronas and u'll get wat i mean... i used the 300v in my uni and 5100 as well, but to be honest did not find any of them good....

are you already using 300v or do you want to switch to 300v ?
I recommend you go for motul 5100 15W50... the best bet for the pulsar 150's... 300v 15w50 will also be good, but
1.I gues it is really not necessary for a 150
2.Pulsar's company head seals leak with 300v 15w50,but replacing the seal will solve the issue (personal exp... if its not leaking for you, then good)
                      3.cost
4.oil level drops like s#%T with the FS's especially 300v,as the pulsars being twin spark and a bit short stroked, run hot... if you don't revv much then fine, but agian if you don't revv much why 300v?
5.Stick to one oil,one grade for atleast 4k kms (atleast one oil change, for the oil to really sink in show it's magic,as i assume you are not flushing the engine)
6.always change the oil when the engine is hot.

Thanks for ur nice reply bro ya i m already using motul 300v. as u mentioned i dint ve any leaking prob with that n i love to revv high.. pulsar 150 recommends xxw40 so i bought motul 300v 10w40 FS.. now my bike revs easily more than before..
