Semi Synthetics and synthetics dont loose color for a good number of kms. BTW the color of the oil has got nothing to do. U can just feel the condition of the oil by observing various characteristics of the engine.

What u said is not fully true. It is a fact that mineral oils lose colour within few kms of riding. It s something to do with the base material, due to their lesser tolerance to heat, they lose their color.

Correction, Hot knife thru butter!Originally posted by insanebiker View PostHow s it now? As smooth as a knife through butter?
I was surprised how thin the power 1 racing had become only after a few hundred km's ! Def didnt expect that
Earlier I had noticed that the gearshifts were becoming progressively noticher (which prompted me to change it in the first place) , now its back to butter smooth!
Power 1 Racing might a a good oil by now I can vouch from experience ( & a waste of 750 bucks) that its def not recommended for P200... !

insanebiker - Thanx buddy for ur helpin me thru this saga!

its actually a strainer and has a shape of that of a cigarOriginally posted by insanebiker View PostI am repeating this time and time again, there is no conventional oil filter(like in the R15,RTR,etc) in any of the Pulsars. There is only one Centrifugal oil filter. It is to be cleaned and not replaced!Socha Toh Locha.

Guys my avenger-180 has covered 40k km and i've been getting it serviced from castrol bike zone for a long time. Now the manual says that a 20w50 rating oil is to be used. And i've been using castrol power1 all this time, which according to this thread is 20w40, right? So is there any other oil in the same price range as the power1 like motul and valvoline? And i just checked the castrol site, and it says activ xtra is 20w50. So how would that fare in my bike??
And will it do any good if i change the engine oil after 3 long years of using power1?? Waiting for your replies.Last edited by ron_7933; 06-21-2009, 03:41 AM.
