Good question. My daily travel requires prolonged high RPM. I was wondering whether my oil will last the same Kms had I travel at short stints.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostYour query is meaningful for normal usage, but have you considered the effects of prolonged high RPM usage on the engine&whether a regular oil can manage heat as effectively as semi/synthetic oils?
Will riding in city for 2000kms at low RPM and occassional high RPM be the same as riding in highway for 2000kms at prolonged high RPM?
Will the oil still maintain the same viscosity?

Contact HydBiker from Hyderabad. Almost all of us get Petronas Sprinta thru him only.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostDear Delhi & Mumbai xbhphians
I have locally trying to get Petronas..but in vain.
All I heard is that, we do not get Petronas from Oil Retailers in Chennai.
Could please find out from where you guys buy petronas, if there is any distribution network for the southern states?
This help would be much appreciated.

NO. Never. City riding will be mostly in range of 40-60kmph&highway will mostly be above 60kmph. Check what RPM your bike is doing at 80kmph&for how long you are constant at that speed on the highway. That is when the engine oil heats up, causing power loss, spoiling oil viscosity etc.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostGood question. My daily travel requires prolonged high RPM. On the other hand in city you would touch that RPM very briefly.
Which is why I say if normal city usage, mineral oils are good enough, changed at regular intervals.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

[QUOTE=HydBiker;298166]There's nothing like the best. It all depends on how much your pocket can afford to spend without pinching your heart and how much extra good-ness you expect your extra money should do to you.
For one, stick to the Yamalube or if you want to use the Synthetics try the Petronas at Rs 400 or the Motul at that fire-cracker price of 590
Money is not a concern to me, as long as my bike is running in full health.. that all I need as I've managed my bike very well. So, U advice me to go for MOTUL which is THE BEST !!!
Also, can U advice me which mechanic is good for my FZ. I know some mechanics... Standard Auto @ Mehdipatnam, 02 Mechanics @ Khairtabad near Shaam theatre (which is closed now)...You must be the change you wish to see in the world

Its around 200 bucks... also depends on how much discount the dealer may give you.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postcan anyone tell me the cost of Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W-40 ?is it fully synth ?
Generally, oil will last longer if bulk of your travel is on highway. As long as your engine is not overheating, you aren't redlining all the time, etc., highway driving is less stressful than city driving and your oil should be good for longer.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostGood question. and the dealer was saying that the formula and the packing were revised...
so that is out of the budget for my next oil change.. wat is the best grade for the uni ?? i'm thinkin of the 5100,but just saw that there is a 10w40 grade in it too..(i'm usin petronas sprinta 5000 10w40 full syn),so should i go for th 15w50 or 10w40 ??RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!
