          • ^^^ If they are really using Gulf, its very good oil for the price. However, Motul semi synth will likely be better, and pricier.

About the service center being ready to use the oil you bring, it depends. Some agree, some may agree after some arm twisting, some not. But big deal... get it somewhere else if they make a fuss. Many oil shops do it for free if you buy the oil from them.

You will obviously have to buy 2 bottles. Store the used bottle well and use it next time.

About semi and fully synth, the name is self explainatory! You can switch to fully synth anytime after say 2 k km.

Plz advice me what is the best oil available in our markets for my FZ.
There's nothing like the best. It all depends on how much your pocket can afford to spend without pinching your heart and how much extra good-ness you expect your extra money should do to you.

For one, stick to the Yamalube or if you want to use the Synthetics try the Petronas at Rs 400 or the Motul at that fire-cracker price of 590

                • Engine oils.

I have been observing this thread for some time now. Lots of bikers wants to change the oil in their bikes to another brand.
I may sound stupid, but I would appreciate if some one is kind enough to clear a doubt I have.

Every manufacturer recommands a particular brand and quality of engine oil (lubricant) for their vehicles. They also specify to change the oil at specific Intervels and/or at specific distance covered. I understand that it is because the lubricating oil carrys away the contaminants and debry generated by the working of the engine and this should be removed from the engine to avoid damages.
Whether you ride 20 Km a day or 200 Km a day, you got to change the oil at the recommanded distance covered or the period elapsed because the contaminant and the debry are going accumulating in the engine.

Other than spending more money on a different brand of oil ( better quality or costly ) what will be achieved that could not be achieved by the manufacturer recommanded oil?
So my doubt is why change to another brand of oil ( spending more money) when changing the specified oil at the specific Intervels and/or at specific distance covered as recommended by the manufacturer is all that is needed to keep the vehicle healthy.

Your query is meaningful for normal usage, but have you considered the effects of prolonged high RPM usage on the engine&whether a regular oil can manage heat as effectively as semi/synthetic oils?

                            • Gulf Oil seem to have redone their website.

Gulf Oil India - A Hinduja Group company

Amongst other new products, they seem to now have a 20W50 bike oil.

                              • Petronas Oil in Southern States.

                                Dear Delhi & Mumbai xbhphians

I have locally trying to get Petronas..but in vain.

All I heard is that, we do not get Petronas from Oil Retailers in Chennai.

Could please find out from where you guys buy petronas, if there is any distribution network for the southern states?

This help would be much appreciated.
