I guess 1600Kms is too early let it run for at least 5-10k & by then engine will settle & then U can change over to to SS or FS oil

      U can very well use 15w40 i/o 20w40

1,600 km should be good enough to change to synth. Which bike oil have you found in 15W40 grade? I don't recall a single brand that has this grade. Anyway, best to use the recommended 20W40 but 15W40 should be ok, if you have a good reason to use that instead.

I have a strong feeling that Power 1 racing 750/- 900 ml is not 900ml but 1000ml. I have used two cans of them.
Though, I might be wrong also.

                    • After using Castrol Power 1 racing (fully synthetic) in my R15 on two consecutive occasions I decided to try out the Petronas Sprinta 5000 4T this time around and I have to admit I am mighty impressed.

After travelling for a 1000 kms after switching to Petronas, I have observed that the bike revs easily all through its RPM range and the engine and the gearbox feel smooth even thorough continuous top end riding.

In my opinion Petronas Sprinta is just as good as Castrol Power 1 racing in terms of quality and refinement and proves to be a better option considering it costs just Rs. 330 for a 1 litre can. I understand that the more recent lot of the same oil is priced at about Rs. 450 but it is still cheaper than Castrol which puts me back by Rs 750 odd per litre.

The high price tag of the latter makes changing oil at every 2k a very expensive proposition and so I strongly recommend trying out the fully synthetic oil from Petronas .

U mean to say, u change even SYNTHETIC oil for every 2k

Anyways, i second your opinion about Sprinta. In beginning was scared bcz of low price and quality. But after 1000kms am pretty satisfied. Even i was using P1R and it did its job pretty well.

What oil ur Using.....Doesnt matter which ever oil(Mineral or Semisynthetic or synthetic)
700+500 = 1500Kms any 4stroke engine oil can stand this much......
You can goahead - but make sure you check the engine oil level - you may have to Topup before going for a Long Trip.......

Instead of a top up, I would suggest this. If ur riding 500km and making an overnight halt, change the oil after it touches something like 1000km. Maybe change it just before going to sleep or so.
                              Just a suggestion.
~1500km is a decent distance for one bottle of oil.

You can make TEN 500kms trips with same oil, just need to top up every 2000kms interval (if you are using HH engine oil). FYI, HH Engine oil has drian period of 6000kms (top up every 2000kms) !
