Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

As long as the oil is of the same weight you can mix FS/SS/Mineral oil. No problem!

Why? Do you have any logical explanation to backup what you are saying?

What a waste of money.. though I cant do anything about it as oil filter in fourwheelers has to be changed by a special tool which would prove costly for a 10K oil change interval.
My bike's mechanic takes 20 Rs to put in new oil and change the filter in my bike. The effort involved is same.. isnt it!?
Oil filter in cars is supposed to be hand tightened and it does not require a tool if the oil filter was not installed with a tool.
Just lubricate the lip and gasket of the filter with some oil and then hand tight it,let the rubber rubber gasket do the job of sealing.
Still ,you can get oil filter tool for about Rs.150 from Afzal Gunj.

                Sorry for OT.

Thanks for providing the explanation on my behalf.

in an emergency situation, if one is running low on oil, then he can top up with any other brand/type of oil.

but in any other case, your engine will be better protected if the above practice is avoided.

Did it long back. No issues whatsoever. Just try to keep both the grades same & try to use oil of the same company.

Oils should not be mixed. If you are running low on oil or require top up you can mix oils.. but that should atleast be of the same grade like w40 etc. Mixing 200 ml is not at all recommended. Here is my reason for opposing oil mixing.
No manufacturer recommends mixing. but still they use word compatible. and thats the sole reason for my statement "across brands, types, grades"

but yes using same grade (at least) would be good, to keep the overall viscosity same as much as possible .

Consider you have a 10W40 FS oil(300V Motul lets say) and a 20w40 mineral oil(Assuming Gulf oil). The FS does not have any VIIs and 20w40 has 2-3% of them (lets assume 2 gm/ 100 ml oil)
You mix 800 ml of FS with 200 ml of mineral. The VIIs become very diluted(4 gm/1000 ml oil) and Hoping you all agree!
I dont agree to the italics part.. 200ml mineral oil is mixed (that's the thing we are talking about, yaar) with FS oil, that mineral oil aint moving around separately. hence no thinning of mineral oil (mineral molecules technically i guess)

Again I partly agree to this part. viscosity may change. (reason very correctly stated; difference in VII content) but you are thinking about mineral part of the oil.. which is loosing VII's.. what about FS, which is gaining VII's by the same proportion (lost by mineral oil) overall I think viscosity may* stay same

Logically, you would not like to deviate from what the manufacturer recommends. If mixing is inevitable - Try mixing same grade (preferably same brand.
reduced protection compared to 100% FS oil. but still, crankcase has 80% of FS oil.
completely agree to the italics part.

What exactly do you mean by same weight ??

Different grade oils have different physical properties . Its better to have a uniform mixture of oils in your engine.
