So what would be our 1/3rd speed? Motoman also says the bikes with latest technology don't have tight tolerance between cylinder walls and piston rings and so his theory works very well but what about bikes when tolerance level is very high? I have also learnt that in Asian countries like Malaysia and Indonesia they don't do any run-in and take the bike to top speed even before 100 kms ODO. I also understand that company which gives guarantees to the engines are very crafty doing their part of the run-in the factory itself so that they don't have compensate for early engine seizures.
You are absolutely right. At least our Indian made mill doesn't needed to be redlined as per Motoman's method. Talking about tolerances, seizures can take place at about any point in time right, be it new or old, it depends on how the mill was put in place at the production, though in rare instances they do happen almost at the run in itself.

Now talking about will this work out? Of course it will depend on a lot of factors, oil, correct usage of engine rev/braking etc etc, but how good? Perhpas, someone needs to do it and show a split side of their engine.

    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    • Hi..
I just purchased a can of "Mobil extra 4T" 10W40 (semi synth) from a local spares shop. It was Rs. 300 for 1L. I am not quite sure of its genuineness. The address given on the pack matches those given in Mobil India website. So can I be sure its a genuine product or is there any other way to confirm..?
      Do reply soon experts.
      Thanks.

It's really hard to discern fake from original, unless it has some kind of hologram, almost everything is faked today, so printing an address doesn't make that big a difference. All you have to see is how the oil performs, I guess it sholuldn't be fake. If you can post a picture of the bottle, perhaps we can discern something out of it. even though it's tough.

        Cheers!

Now it's like asking me to tell me whether a person has cancer or not, just by seeing himself. It's really, really hard to discern just by the looks sooraj, though only when you see it in person, you can distinguish something and from the dealer who you bought etc etc matters. Not to mention lots of fake Castrols are out there, it's just so hard to discern fake to genuine. Let us know how the oil performs.

            Cheers!

looks original.. i have used mobil 4t oils. to confirm.. look under the bottle.. if "vipul" is written on the bottle, its probability of being original is very very high. No one invest in making fakes of oils which have a very very small market.

                  LOL i know its difficult.
I just put the oil in. Run only around 10 kms. It feels good, but not great. Lets see what happens as time goes by. Anyway thanks a lot for your concern.

EDIT : The oil is claimed to be semi synthetic. But how can an SS oil cost just 300 bucks a litre..? :-/

Oh is it. This is the first time i am using anything other than mineral. So no experience with SS. Thought they costed like 500 bucks.
For the time being, I believe I have bought a genuine Mobil product.
                      Thanks guys.

                          • Hey guys,

                            Looking for a semi/full-synthetic oil.

Brand: Motul only as i have been using the mineral version on my 200 NS and do feel the difference.

I am nearing 2500 kms and want to shift to either a semi-synth or full synthetic oil.

Grade: looking for a 10W50 is it is possible or else the 15W50 300V is always there. But i would prefer the 10W50.

                            Please advise.

edit: from the Motul India site i dont see any 10W50 oil.

                            Motul 5100 - FS 15W50 (single ester)
                            Motul 300V - FS 15W50 (double ester)

Both are full synthetic oils. So what is exactly the benefit of a double ester oil over a single. Is the 300V an overkill for day to day use/commute? What is the normal drainage time for a FS oil especially 300V.

I know the 300V costs around 950 bucks, but how much does the 5100 cost (anyone please?). the 7100 FS 20W50 costs around 720 bucks.

Single Ester or double ester doesn't mean much difference. I've used the both, any by the the I bought per can of 5100 was 380 something, now it's close to 450 range, but recently I think they've increased the price to 550/liter for 5100 and the 300v close to 1000 bucks a can! Excellent oils, though nothing magic to be exptected, really good engine performance and all revs.

This was the exact thing quoted by MOTUL when one of my friend asked them about the price increase

....we fully understand your view. Pl note that input costs ( everything from production to freight) had gone up considerably for the past 7 months but we have taken a hike only last month. We are also running a promotion to offset the price hike ( ie Buy 6 x 1L withing your community, share the details on our My motul, my biking tab, you would get an assured FREE Motul product ( ie Chain Lube or Carbu Clean or Shine & Go)

I'd say there isn't any issue using the SS or FS, though I'd strongly recommend you to use the 5100 for 6 to 7k KMS and then switch to FS.

                              Cheers!
