In technical specification and use the Shell AX 7 Ultra FS is found to be superior to the Motul 300 V Factory line oil, and it is also cost effective.Originally posted by Aditya N Bharadwaj View PostWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Hi Guys,
I have a Pulsar 180 DTSi- UG3 2007 model which has run 41000 Kms. I was using Motul 300V oil in my bike and it was fantastic in every aspect.
Lately the price of the oil has increased to almost Rs 1000 in Pune and has become difficult to find even.
So I was looking at other options and I found two Fully Synthetic Oils :
1) Castrol Power 1 Racing 10W50
2) Motul 7100 4T 20W50
Both are similarly priced.
Can someone let me know which is better for my bike. Also what are the drain period, top-up period for both the oils. I used to change the Motul 300V oil in around 5000-5500 Kms and if required used to topup in around 2500-3000Kms.
Expecting some prompt replies as I have to change my bikes oil pretty soon.

Motul 7100 has lesser drain interval than the 300v compared to 8ks of 300v or 5k for 7100. Both 5100 and 7100 aren't that different, though the former is SS and the latter is FS. That being said, I'd suggest to look more closely and source the Castrol from a genuine dealer, as there are a lots of fakes in Power1 out there. Drain Interval of Crapstrol Power1 is 4k KMS for maximum performance.
I'd suggest you go for 7100
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Can you let me know the price of Motul 5100?
BTW you said 5100 and 7100 are similar. Is it in terms of Performance of Bike or properties of the oil?
Also how to recognise that Power 1 racing is original or not?

As Sachin quoted, give or take 545 bucks. In terms of both performance as the very name makes the oil different, SS to FS, though there isn't a big difference in the properties too.Originally posted by ahota View PostThanks VJ.

Recognizing Power1 a genuine or not? Good question. Just make sure you don't get them from petty retail shops who sell the oil. If you aren't sure, talk to the shopkeeper about the oil, check how he responds, his very answer and his knowledge might give you some idea as to is he a real genuine reseller or who sells fakes from a fake reseller who he doesn't even know. That's one.
Second, there are certain tricks as the container code etc, which is real hard to look upon. Darn, I threw my can long back. If only I had it now, I could have take a snap of it immediately and posted it here. Perhaps others who have that in their hands can help.
Third, try sourcing it from a mass reseller who happens to sell them, so that you know they deal with the entire set and they know what they're dealing with.
Since power1 is a niche and costly product, chances of fakes are real less, but why take risks spending almost a fortune on oil and not getting that peace of mind.
Go for Motul 7100
Cheers!

Its always better to get a motul.. the benefits are many. Their products are used on performance bikes like R15 and also our very own enfield as a factory fill. On the other hand aggressively marketed products have failed to prove their mettle to the motorcycle manufacturers. Am I missing something here?? The only vehicle that I know of, which comes factory filled with Castrol is VW/Skoda which uses Castrol Magnatec Professional 5W-40 FS oil.. Please note the word professional on the label makes a hell lot of a difference in terms of oil performance and quality and price!!

Time has come to replace engine oil on my hero honda splendor. want to discontinue ASC supplied 10w30 and revert back to 20w40 oil. Want to try any one of these oils:
Motul 3000 4T plus 20w40
Gulf pride 4t 20w40
Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40
20w40 Yamalube SL
Can someone point me to a good multi-brand engine oil dealer in bangalore? Thanks!!

5100 is SS not FS, for FS it is 7100 or 300v 300v being the costliest.Originally posted by sunilyo View Postany good 10W50 oils available in India. I see Motul 5100 is 10W50 (FS) but i dont see it on the website. any other good performing brand other than Motul please advise.

For my 2002 Hero Honda Splendor, I went back to 20w40 grade oil after 2100 KMs of A.S.S filled 10w30 oil. Bought Motul 3000 4T plus 20w40 for Rs.220/- and got the oil changed at a nearby work shop.
Have the following queries though:
1. Motul 3000 4T plus 20w40 is hard to find. The shop i found this had just one tin left. So next time i find it in stock, is it wise to buy, say 3 or 4 one litre cans and store it at home? Will it deteriorate over time if left in its original container?
2. The mechanic who changed the oil said its not required to clean the oil filter for every oil change. Is it true? Or did i commit a blunder by not insisting on an oil filter cleaning?

After that one can reduce the stainer cleaning frequency.. Just replace good quality engine oil after draining the used oil hot.Originally posted by sunilyo View Postany good 10W50 oils available in India.
