Same here. Used Castrol Power-1 earlier, the engine smoothness is lost in around 250-300 kms only.

Is shell rimula available here apart from the shell petrol bunks? available in what quantity and grade? I wonder if its that good why don't oil companies officially reccomment it for motorcycles too

The Shell Rimula I am using is R3X 15w40...it is also available in 20w50....The Rimula R4 is superior to the R3x in that it contains additives to contain acid reaction and dispersants to keep the engine clean and working well....They are available in 1 liter,4.5 liter and 5.5 liter packs.....the 1 liter pack is 260/- for R3X and 300/- for the R4.Most manufacturer cannot spend time and Money on experimenting on oils and hence stick to known areas...In foreign countries, many end users ie., owners of motorcycles, have started changing over to Diesel oils, specifically the Shell Rotella which they buy in barrels and store it for their Motorcycle,Cars,SUVs etc., as one oil capable of serving all the vehicle needs. I had posted links in the past posts..

The castrol Power 1 is a really not a good oil to use...there are many fakes in Castrol oil and even the distributor is selling the fakes due to higher profit margin...

The Rimula series of oil does not contain friction modifiers ie., molybdenum Di-sulfide which can cause clutch slip...

I dont think 5w40 and 850 bucks is justified on a low cc motorcycle engine that we use(100cc to 220 cc mostly, would be good grade for high end bikes as shown in the link I attached in my previous post). Anyways, why go anywhere else when you have a flawless 300V (double ester) in similar price range.
Could you please post a pic of how the Delvac Oil can looks like?
              Will be thankful.

              • Here is the additive composition detail in Shell Rimula R4...the R3X has lesser level of these ingredients....

What i personally felt with my experience is rather than experimenting with different oils it's good to stick with one brand which we feel better for our ride and easy on our pockets at the same time. i'm using shell ss(10W40) for my uni for a long time and i'm pretty much happy with it. I've tried 300v 5W 40 in the past which was awesome but for a price though it lasts longer. I find shell ss 'equally' good for its price. At first i regretted going back to shell ss after using 300v as it has took some time to settle. After that initial 100-150 kms oil was as good as 300v. There wont be that gap if you stick with a same oil. Mobil FS must be superior, but is it worth changing each time for its whooping asking price I don't think so:/

Very thin oils like 0W.. causes gears to pit. Use 10W or above oil in motorcycles.

If you have used 5w40 motul even that is incorrect. its 10w40. I think very recently they have introduced 5w grades in India. But yet to see them in the market.

Also mobil 0wXX is a car specific oil. Cant be used on bikes.(but why will anyone use any other xyz oil which costs 1000 bucks a litre when you have 300V in around 900~950/L.

                                I'm sure that's a typo. I guess he referred to 10w40 as I'm unaware of Mobil 1 "0w40" FS.
