Buy
WD40 can for cleaning Chain : 90rs for small
Motul Chain Lube (Road) : 510rs (MRP)
Don't buy the Off-road even by mistake. Look on bottle before paying.
And, if you use the spray at each 600-700 Km, This Motul bottle can do 30-35 times easily.
(If used in normal quantity)
No need to dip the chain in lube.
Just keep the bike chain moving in First Gear & Spray the lube using its big straw once not even in the circle moving circle of chain.
And its good to go.
For more info : Go through the Thread of "Chain Lubing" on xBhp !
Do not even try to clean the chain with cloth when Bike's ignition is On.
Google for "bike chain lube fingers" and see results before doing chain lube.
P.S. = I like to clean the chain but first I keep the Keys in my pocket not even inserted in bike.Last edited by Sird; 06-05-2013, 11:39 AM.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal

Re: Engine Oils
I use the Motul Chain Cleaner to clean the chain and Gear Oil EP90 for lubing it. The Motul is amazing and cleans the chain amazingly well. It costed me Rs. 480 for the Motul.Originally posted by xpranav View PostCan someone kindly provide me with a product name that I should use for the chain lubrication. ? if available, do put up a link for purchasing it online.

Re: Engine Oils
As said, after cleaning the chain, EP 90 Gear oil is equally good for lubrication. Imp factor is this is comparatively inexpensive!!Originally posted by xpranav View PostCan someone kindly provide me with a product name that I should use for the chain lubrication. ? if available, do put up a link for purchasing it online.

Re: Engine Oils
If you want fast and quick lube then use a Chain spray from Motul or Rolon , i use a kerosene or diesel to clean chain and sprockets and Servo EP 90 oil. Both will cost you well below 150rs and gear oil will last almost a year.Originally posted by xpranav View PostCan someone kindly provide me with a product name that I should use for the chain lubrication. ? if available, do put up a link for purchasing it online.

Re: Engine Oils
All heavy oils can be used for cleaning, but why is the question. Kefir oils spray oil all over the wheel rim swing arm and resultant components. Solution? Chain lube? Content these spray too? Of course any fluid will. But it's consistent and thick and sticks to the chain longer.
Whereas heavy EP oils attract grime, little loose gravel abd e become messy and gooey and can be a real pain in the arse when cleaning.
Rest is well explained by others.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Engine Oils
Friends, i have a honda cb unicorn which has clocked 2500 kms. The recommended grade engine oil is 10w30 in the owners manual but does not mention fs or s. What engine oil should i use other than stock honda engine oil? Can i use Throttle honda fs engine oil??

Re: Engine Oils
Full synthetic oils can cause leakage past piston rings as they are new and engine hasn't bed well. Yes the recommended grade for Unicorn is 10W30 , atleast upto 6k stick to mineral oils , if you want better oil than stock then i would suggest Veedol premium 10w30 or Mobil Super 4T , both are very good mineral oils .Originally posted by girish78 View PostFriends, i have a honda cb unicorn which has clocked 2500 kms. Kerosene can be used. Many folks use that. Continue using with free mind.Originally posted by Touseef Ahmed Mohammed View PostHow far does kerosene serve in cleaning a Drive chain? Safe using kerosene?
I do clean my Fz16's Drive chain with kerosene & a tooth brush, it removes dirt like SurfExcel.

Re: Engine Oils
Power1 is semi synthetic whereas Castrol Active Extra is mineral , I would avoid Castrol brand as chances are it might be fake as there are loads of fake Castrol in market . Alternatively you can try Hero Honda 10W30 (made by Tide Water Company ) for your Unicorn.Originally posted by girish78 View PostHow about Castrol active extra or Castrol power1??
