        Hi All,
Oil change is due on my 31+K old P150. I have been using mineral oil since the beginning and i guess an upgrade is long since overdue.
I have been through this whole thread this afternoon (whew!) and am thinking of trying out semi-synth first. Would Sprinta4T 4000 be a good upgrade. or should i go for Power1? The general opinion seems strongly in favor of Sprinta. my budget at present is <350/- any suggestions/alternatives? Veedol/motul? after reading so many suggestions, im really confused wayyyy over my head!

You could try Veedol swift. Its a semi-synthetic oil and retails for about Rs.260. Try that out.

            • guys with a CBZ-xtreme stick to the company oil.

I did a 900kms run in a day (that is within 24 hours) 446x2 kms non stop (enroute and return). Oil is still damn good ! and the engine didnt heat up, nor the gearshifts got hard.

best performance by the bike till date.
that too my bike is 34k kms done..

i'd rather change the oil at 1500kms intervals than going in for a fully synth(power1, motul 300v, Agip fully synth)(cost = 650 at least ? )...

and since none of my tours are going to be more than 1100kms in a single one day run .. i dont need to use a fully synth.

              • i had been using a Veedol super swift 10w40(semi) in between a Motul 300V,
but the best i think i have used is Power 1 from Castrol,
and reccomend it, after i had drained out the Motul 300V(2000kms, oil level dipped significantly, it does in synthetic oils) the engine became super silent(if there is a word for it). change at every ~1500kms, it will be good.

                • Did any body try ELF Moto 4 GOLD, which is 20w40 and a blend of synth as per the company. Just want to enquire about the same?

Motul 300V FL is available in 5W40 format, this is a motorcyle oil. This is available with the Motul dealer here in Bangalore, not sure about Hyderabad.

                        • Newbie question...
I read the initial post re. what the numbers mean. My Avy manual recommends a 20W50 oil.
The oil level is a bit low and I need to top up like 200ml or so. Can I use a 20W40 for the topup. Is this OK?

                          Thanks,
                          Beo

                              • ^^^^ Satish, the Motul ??W40 we saw two weeks back was not a car oil.

@RedApple, check with BPRags, I know he's using the AGIP. There are a good number of people using it in Blr.

@Beo, Better use 20W50 oil for topup also. You can add 20w40, since it is 200 ML out of the 1L. But then make sure the engine doesn't get heated up heavily like in huge traffic jams or high speed cruising.

@prashanthkp, not many two strokers here but the problem is that you have very less choice for 2 stroke oils in the market. There are oils from every company, just make sure you get a can of oil from a good brand and use it. I guess we don't have many experiences with 2 stroke engine oils here.

@Kauria, ELF Moto4Gold is a mineral oil and I read got some good reviews on xBhp about this oil. Pls check http://www.elf.co.in/lub/content/NT0010D3A2.pdf
