Buy 4T oils from Motul, Shell, ELF, Mobil... If you find nothing and your ride is 100-150 cc go for NXT from MAK or Servo Synth 4T.

Where can I buy shell advance ax7 10w40 in kerala?
Or suggest any online store?"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

If you're from Kollam I can guide you to a store that sells AX5, else just let me know when you find a place that sells AX7
And regarding Motul 5100 it costs around 500, better get AX7 its 375 or less, depending on the shop. And different bikes work well with different oils.

Re: Engine Oils
Ya you are rite. For pulsar 5100 is better than shell. Currently am using shell. Before I was using bajaj dtsi mineral. Shell ax7 is semi synthetic. Thought of using shell for 2-3 hundred kms and drain and put motul5100. Motul is bit costly. But worth for that on pulsar. Shell ax7 comes with 20w40 grade. But for pulsar recommended is 20w50 grade oil. Mogul 5100 is 15w50 grade oil. Shell ax5 is again mineral oil.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostIf you're from Kollam I can guide you to a store that sells AX5, else just let me know when you find a place that sells AX7

Re: Engine Oils
Read a few posts about engine oils and its relation to vibration/harhness in some threads. So I am putting here my 2 cents.
A better oil has better viscosity index, that means the change in viscosity is less as the temperature increases. So a better oil (eg motul) will have better viscosity at higher temperature when compared to a inferior oil (i wouldn't take the name, there are many). Now coming to vibes, a less viscous oil will result in more friction and may result in both vibration and harshness. Also in long run there would be more wear of parts again adding to both vibration and harshness.
Since Synthetic oils have much higher viscosity index when compared to minerals, they provide better protection and a smoother ride.
Also a inferior engine oil will start loosing its property like viscosity and viscosity index earlier.
PS: It (the VI) is one of the aspects, but a major one. Hope it helps, correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Engine Oils
Hey guys, so i've been running my P230 from race concepts for about a month now, 5027 on the odo since the setup. When i'm changing oils, i use an 17% SS and 83% full synth mix. This is primarily because well the clutch used to slip with FS oil and never did with the semi synth. So my mix is 1000ml of 7100 with 200ml of 5100. Done it twice, engine runs smooth as silk and perfect after prolonged abuse, and best part is the response while doing wheelies is right on the money
. Hope this helps

Re: Engine Oils
Guys I have been wanting to switch to Motul in my Thunderbird500 from the RE's liquid gun oil they use at the ASC. I had a few doubts regarding the same.
1. Is it advised to complete the run in with mineral oil? My bike has already clocked 1800kms on the company's default oil.
2. How much difference do semi synthetic and fully synthetic oils make?
3. Do I need to fully drain out the engine? I mean except for the normal drain plug removal is there any extra procedure required?
4. Which oil should I go for? I was reading the thread and wanted know between Motul 7100 and 300v. Or any other recommended brand?
Thanks in advance!
