Don`t go for SHELL ADVANCE AX7 as its grade wont suits our bike i.e. 10w40. You will loss the punchy revvup nature of xtreme. I personally experienced it. I drained it & poured VEEDOL again & will be sticking to that oil henceforth. I am again saying you don`t go for any grades apart from 10w30 as all other grades are not suitable for our bike.
Agreed that the 10w40 grade is wrong for the extreme... vut during hit summers its actually better as it will hold up longer than a 10w30 would..but a strict no during winters. and yes veedol take off is an excellent oil... used it in a glamour couldnt make out if the engine was running or not
Anything over 10w40 in an extreme will cause premature bore wear in the long run since the engine utilises the oil splashing in the sump to lubricate the bore . / cylinder .
Dont worry so much with 10w40 though...during hot climates its all good

I dont think you will find anything better than motul 7100 its a single ester fs oil that is one of the best available right now in india. the motul 300v would be better but...not noticeable on a daiky basis. highway long hauks or constant redlining the 300v might be better but just slightly. And it lasts a little better...but imo not a worthy upgrade from 7100. one headsup keep checking the engine oil level.. fs oils are known to vaporise and drop in levels..

Castrol make very good oils...well not as nice as motuls maybe... but thats my personal opinion. problem with castrol is all the fakes out there... if you get hold of a genuine one a fs castrol such as power 1 racing will easiky last you over 4000km but if its a fs oil.... unfortunately I tend to stay away from castrols due to my bad experience with fakes and since I dont know how to diffrentiate between a fake or genuine bottle of castrol. Never the less they make very good oils. But if your thinking bout the 7100 dont even look back... a top up every 1000km will see you using the oil for over 4000kms at a time....

Which would be a good engine oil for a Pulsar 150? Belongs to a friend. He's sent this pic from his manual.

So I have finally got Motul 7100 20w50 for my NS. Most of the dealers in my area had either old stock from 2012, or they didn't have it at all. One of them even suggested Motul 5100 instead. Saying it's the same thing, just that it costs lesser. I backed away from that shop slowly. Anyway, it was like mining for gold, and now I know why.

After getting rid of the sludge called Bajaj Genuine Engine Oil 20W50, and replacing it with Motul, I didn't really feel any difference initially. Felt sluggish, and made noise. Same as before.

After 10 minutes of running the engine, the bike transformed and how. The gear shifts were smooth as butter. The acceleration was crisp and never did I feel like I was going to redline. It felt at ease even at around 9000 rpm. On a few occasions while upshifting, I even felt like I'd pop my front wheel if I throttled any more.

The engine noise has gone down considerably. The vibrations are a lot less. The strain on the engine seems to have gone.

And this is only after a 8 km ride.

Definitely. Try, and you'll never use anything else.

Guys. I changed the oil from bajaj to motul 5100 15w50 some 600odd kms ago in my 200ns. Since it isnt available in my country, nepal, i bought it in Singapore when i was there. And after i used it i had minor leaks (spots could be seen after riding for a day; 10-20 kms) of it from the left side. Did it happen because of the oil?
So recently i went to svc for 4th servicing and told them this issue. And after they finished, they said they had fixed it and topped up with ~200ml of bajaj oil. So i am worried because my bike is now running on 1l motul and 200ml of bajaj oil. is this a worrying issue?
So far it doesn't feel much different.
I don't want to change the oil because a litre of it set me back by Singaporean $27 ~ 2200nrs and have got 4.8 lt of it for days to come. But if is too concerning i will have to change.
P.S even while riding on motul my bike didnt feel much different. Infact i didnt feel it to be any different from bajaj. Why is this? As many people in the ownership thread had said that it would immediately start feeling very very different. It used to be smooth and still is.
Note: The odo reading was 43xx kms when i started using motul.
I have uploaded the pic from where the leak happened. Its after the bike was washed so it isnt leaking now but just to give an idea about from where it did.

Thanks for sharing. .. but I am laughing at the article.

Oil should be changed when there is increase in Cold start tries!!? When the wear in the engine is more!!? When it is taking more time to warm up!!?

I would say, dont follow even one of these suggestions. It is not applicable to our conditions and rides. These may be applicable to a vehicle running in alaska. But I doubt that even there a vehicle's engine would be opened up to check whether it is time to change oil.

Looks like a novice created a page from compilation of wild thoughts he ever had.

Owners manual's is the best method to follow. What max you could do is use higher quality oils and higher oil change frequency.
