  • Re: Engine Oils

Engine oil is very important for the smooth working of engine and its performance totally depends on it. For the best engine oil go for the brands like Castrol, Motul, Divyol, Veedol, Valvoline. Select as per suggested in user manual but do choose the proper one...

I've been suggested by my mechanic to use either Motul engine oil or Divyol for my KTM Duke. Is it good choice to go for any of them... heard of motul prior but Divyol is something new for me. Should I go for Divyol engine oil do suggest me for this...

This time am posting this on behalf of my friend. He bought 1 bottle of Motul 7100 Fully Synthetic oil from store for his RE Himalayan and as you might know Himalayan needs around 2.5 ish oil. That store didn't had any more stock of Motul 7100 or even 5100 so he purchased a bottle of Gulf Semi Synthetic oil. Now Motul is API SN and Gulf is API SL so he is confused whether to use Gulf with Motul or return the oil.

It is okay to mix oils during top up, even if they are of different grade. But, mixing oils, right when filling itself doesn't seem like a good idea. Yeah.... It'll work and won't trigger a chain reaction or something but still, it's not a good idea.

If Himalayan needs API SN oil then you can't mix SL oil. If Himalayan needs SL or higher, then one can go ahead and mix. I've done it myself. No big deal.

Should I go ahead and tell him to use motul & gulf together then?

If you can return the oil, get 2.5 - 3 LTR packing of one oil. It's always better to use a single oil.

BTW can you please explain the consequences of mixing API SL oil with SM or SN?

Can someone suggest me engine oil for my Honda CBR 250R? I recently bought a used bike, the previous owner used to use honda engine oil,

My daily run is 15-20 kms and sometimes like in a month i go for 50+km rides that's it

I ride below 90 i want a oil that keeps my engine smooth and gives good mileage i don't need performance as road conditions are bad therefore its pointless speeding up.

I guess you should try Motul 7100/5100 or Shell Advance AX5/AX7
