That is just one of those questions that isn't worth being bothered about.

Kinda like asking if it is fine to add water to cheap liquor after adding soda, either way you do it, doesn't make a difference worth being bothered about.

If you're concerned about API ratings then do read up on API ratings by Googling it.

I ride below 90 i want a oil that keeps my engine smooth and gives good mileage i don't need performance as road conditions are bad therefore its pointless speeding up.
Two best options currently available for everyday user is motul 7100 and shell advance ultra.

Considering your requirement and riding style i would suggest you shell advance ultra 10w40.
Its feels smoothest of the lot.

Motul is a bit more performance focussed and comparitively less smooth

I've checked personally that the oil level is at the bottom of the dipstick, even after filling 1200ml oil. If you're too paranoid, drain the oil and check the quantity. If it is ≥1100ml, you're good to go. If not, add oil to make it 1150ml, fill it and see if the oil disappears again.

              Hope this helps.
Yup, will be checking the quantity after few Days

FS do have a nature to vanish without a trace. Stick with semi-synthetic, they are cheaper and have almost as same a life as the FS.

You'd mentioned that SS are good and cost effective than FS . Could you please elaborate in brief about your oil draining interval and the SS you've been using?
                Will be helpful ...

I think I've had enough experience with the Motul 300V and Shell, barring a few other brands Bajaj's 10000 which I used for a brief period. SS oils have a different structure than that of FS oils. The main reason I choose SS, is the cost effectiveness and overall vehicle feedback. For the most part my drain interval is every 2 to 2.5k strict, irrespective of the oil I brand or grade I use. Drain interval topic is always a debatable with some happily extending post 5k but, I follow my own interval period.

                  Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I put a SS in my celerio this time and it was 67% cheaer than the FS option - which is a big price difference.

I thought I can keep it to a 4k drain interval, but your interval of 2.5k max is on the lower side. Are you being extra cautious or is that generally the max drain interval you have felt a SS will give it's best performance at?

Car engine oils are comparatively different then motorcycle engine oils. Cars have a separate gearbox and the engine is separate, both use different oils. In a motorcycle, a single oil lubricates the engine, and the gearbox, and the oil is put to extreme thermal and molecular stresses which in turn reduce the life of the engine oil, that's why it's recommended to replace the engine oil early. I replace my car engine oil at 5 to 6k appox, while keeping a tab on the oil condition, on the bike it's 2.5k max irrespective of the brand.

                        Cheers!

                          Hello friends,

I am sharing my experience regarding scooters. We have several scooters in our friends circle. Activa, wego, jupiter, access, SR150....almost all scooters are there.
I myself have ridden activas and wegos extensively. I have a HH passion and dont own a scooter. As a DIY guy i always replace the engine oil myself and used to suggest motorcycle engine oils to my scooter friends untill......I got a job in spare parts division of Sai Service- Maruti Suzuki. We had a bunch of Honda Activas for local runs. These were thoroughly abused and beaten up in all imaginable ways. BUT these were really smooth to ride, had faster pickup and very less vibrations. That was quite a surprise. my friends decenlty maintained activas and wegos were feeling sluggish and not as smooth compared to these beaten up Sai service activas which were only serviced every 6k km or so.

I started searching for the reasons for better performance on these company scooters and found it to be the engine oil itself!

Now maruti uses two oils for its petrol engines. 5w30 mineral and 0w20 synthetic, both manufactured by Indian oil corporation.
Both are JASO MB spec oils. The 5w30 oil is used in these activas and thats the reason for such smooth performance. That was an eye opener and now i do not recommend motorcycle oil for scooters. Scooters require JASO MB spec oils as they have low friction engines. Try either scooter specific or car engine oil with JASO MB rating and feel the difference

How often are they changing the oil? Since it's Mineral, I'm assuming it wouldn't be more than 3k Kms.
