No Conventional oil filters like the ones on the other bikes(the ones that look like a small k&n).

And i heard form Venkat that these filters on the Pulsars dont need that much of cleaning. Moreover the engine cover on the roght should be removed to gain access to it.
dude i got ready to go to Bajaj PBK! thanks for the info, you saved me!

Are you sure about there being no oil filter in a Pulsar? AFAIK, my Fiero F2 also has that mesh kind of thing-that is internal&does not need to be changed. Apart from that, I saw the mech changing my oil filter too. It costed me somewhere around Rs.29.

For draining all the old oil, please warm up the engine before draining it, so that all the droplets sticking to the sides also come out. But no matter what you do, there will still be around 200 ml.inside the engine, which cannot be removed unless the engine is opened up. Take that easy, that much of oil mixing can never cause harm.

When I used the Gulf 20W40 my clutch plates were 3K KMs old. I used the Gulf 10W30 after I used the 20W40. Both Semi Synth. After this went in Petronas 10W40 fully Synth. The gear shift with Gulf 20W40 was the best ever I had. With Gulf 10W30 it was not bad at all but but the 20W40 has set a standard high up. With Petronas it is slightly better than with the 10W30...

I'm guessing it is to do with the oil and not with the age alone!

ok dude, i will check with my local mechanic about the oil filter. the picture in my mind of mixing mineral oil & synthetic oil is like mixing oil and water, so am obsessed with the nitty-gritty. anyways i will have to go ahead now. thanks for the info guys!

He hasd issues when tried Valvoline Premium 4T 20W50 and with one more that I don't remember.

So, it is with the thicker oils and not with whether it is synthetic or mineral.

              Ravi, am I right?

What do you have to say about my bikes growling? No change in gearshifts though.
              R15 runs on Yamalube SL semi-synth 15w50.
Fiero F2 runs on Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000 10w40 as you know very well.
I have faced the hard gearshifting and engine growling (only below 60 kmph) with all the synthetic oils, including Valvoline 4T premium. Surprisingly I did not notice this with Veedol Superswift which is semisynth and is 10w40.

I still do not understand why it is happening. But, with synthetic oils (used both Motul and Sprinta) the smoothness of the engine is very good above 60 kmph in 5th gear. Below 60 kmph, the engine feels much better with mineral oils.

To confirm it once again and for the last time, I am gonna use Sprinta again next time and see if this is substantiated more.

Daylight Robbery at its heights. Oil prices have come down drastically but oil manufacturers are not decreasing the prices. If the crude oil prices go again to $100, again they would increase.

                    • ^^^ Yes! All of them increased prices few months ago. And as of now, not a single oil company has reduced prices! Talk of cartelisation!

                      • Didn't notice many companies reducing the price but I did notice it with Castrol. The Power 1 went upto over Rs 300 per can and now it is Rs 280. Even the Activ4T's price is reduced.

                          • Neither is good. Mobil one is not ment for bikes and the Motul is too thick for your bike. But if you must use one, go for Motul.

                              • almost all who stock MOTUL however keep saying that the company is just slow to respond and is lagging behind when it comes to supplies. They're just not prompt
