This reminds me,a member from team bhp swapped out his 2008 zmas cdi with that of the old ones.He said there was a considerable improvement in performance.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostWhile I mostly agree about what you have said, let me explain this. Zma 1st edition had much better pick up than the latter editions and it consumed more fuel too. To increase fuel efficiency, the ignition timings were retarded slightly across the midrange. This decreased the pick up and made the engine run a bit cooler. Maybe some other changes were incorporated too. But final result was that, the pep decreased and fuel efficiency increased. To help things further, a thinner grade oil was used too. This was possible because the engine now runs a bit less stressed then before. Thus, 10W30 instead of 10W40.
BTW, what is the grade for the ZMR?Socha Toh Locha.

It is 10W30 for the ZMR.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI don't know.. but still with the fairing + lean AFR (due to FI), heating will be more severe, oil cooler notwithstanding. 10W40 seems more suitable in this case.
What options do you have at your place? Give that list and we'd pick one or two for you. To my knowledge only the following FS oils are available - Motul 300v FL 5W40, Castrol Power1 Racing 10W40, AGIP Racing 4T 5W40, Petronas Sprinta 5000 4T 10W40. More details were discussed just a few pages back in this thread.Originally posted by Binoy View PostGuys which grade and brand of Synthetic Oil is good for Yamaha FZ16... currently i am using the semi-synthetic version of yamalube... i had posted the same query before, any one suggest me please...

^^^ Motul is probably the best. Yamalube's are really good too. May be you are better off with the Yamalube than spending money on the Castrol. At that cost you can get Motul itself. Didn;t hear of a Fully Synthetic from Valvoline. They have a semi Synthetic in 20W50 grade.Originally posted by Binoy View PostDon't know all the above oils are available here, volvoline FS is available here, is it good? and from the above which would u prefer, i think the motul and power 1 is the best?

Thanks Hyd, i prefer to continue with the Semi-syn version of yamalube am currently using it's really good as the service period for FZ16 is 3000kms and i find it really good and a FS will be way too costly, no need for that, sem version is more than enough...Originally posted by HydBiker View Post^^^ Motul is probably the best. My honest advice stick to the honda oil.Nothing surpasses it on the long run.Had a very bad experience with synthetic oil.Originally posted by Nixster View PostHi.This is my first post to this website.I own a unicorn(spoke wheels with stickers model).I have done around 22,500 kms on my bike.I have been using the honda oil till now.I would like to try something new for my unicorn.Which one should i go for? Also, what difference can i find if i change to a semi-synthetic oil? Thanks in advance
