I don't know.. but still with the fairing + lean AFR (due to FI), heating will be more severe, oil cooler notwithstanding. 10W40 seems more suitable in this case.

While I mostly agree about what you have said, let me explain this. Zma 1st edition had much better pick up than the latter editions and it consumed more fuel too. To increase fuel efficiency, the ignition timings were retarded slightly across the midrange. This decreased the pick up and made the engine run a bit cooler. Maybe some other changes were incorporated too. But final result was that, the pep decreased and fuel efficiency increased. To help things further, a thinner grade oil was used too. This was possible because the engine now runs a bit less stressed then before. Thus, 10W30 instead of 10W40.

BTW, what is the grade for the ZMR?

This reminds me,a member from team bhp swapped out his 2008 zmas cdi with that of the old ones.He said there was a considerable improvement in performance.

And if the ZMR still has no overheating issues, I would say, it would be good enough for the Zma too.

^^^ Motul is probably the best. Yamalube's are really good too. May be you are better off with the Yamalube than spending money on the Castrol. At that cost you can get Motul itself. Didn;t hear of a Fully Synthetic from Valvoline. They have a semi Synthetic in 20W50 grade.

^^^ Motul is probably the best. Yamalube's are really good too. May be you are better off with the Yamalube than spending money on the Castrol. At that cost you can get Motul itself. Didn;t hear of a Fully Synthetic from Valvoline. They have a semi Synthetic in 20W50 grade.

I heard from the yamaha SVC guys that there is a Fully Syn version for Volvoline, may be them meant semi-syn, anyways thanks...

Hi.This is my first post to this website.I own a unicorn(spoke wheels with stickers model).I have done around 22,500 kms on my bike.I have been using the honda oil till now.I would like to try something new for my unicorn.Which one should i go for?Also,what difference can i find if i change to a semi-synthetic oil?Thanks in advance

My honest advice stick to the honda oil.Nothing surpasses it on the long run.Had a very bad experience with synthetic oil.
