    thank you
If the SVC guys say that it can be used for the FZ too, go ahead with it!

@HydBiker: Petronas fully synth didn't even last for 3K kms.on my Fiero F2. The quantity was also very less when drained out. I switched back to TVS Tru4 today. Lots of updates on the Fiero F2 front, but I don't wanna flood this thread with OTs.

I am unable to understand-Does that happen only with synthetic oil or are the piston rings getting busted?

I can't understand why synthetic oil can cause such problems.I recently got my block, piston and crank replaced of my unicorn which has run only 20k.The svc works manager recommended not to use synthetic oil again as synthetics and unicorn do not go hand in hand.Enquired with my trusted mechanic,he too refrained me from using them.Had been using petronas for more than a year. Can't understand the mystery.

          Sherlock holmes,help!!!!!!!!!!
PS-My engine was chocked with excess carbon, which lead to one of the valves getting stuck.

Yeah, I guess I've had it with synthetics for my old bike. Even the manual recommends only mineral oils&Veedol Super Swift, which is semi-synth. Guess I will stick to TVS Tru4 from now on.
I will check the engine oil quantity at the next drain.
Your bike had its internals replaced too early. My trusted mech says mine can go on till 75K kms.

My bore had scratches and play was present at the big end so had to replace it.More over my bike was emitting smoke like an incense stick.
Its no to synthetics from now on,mineral oil zindabad.

              • Got a urgent query regarding synthetic oils...

Currently I'm using Petrona's Sprinta 5000 Full Synthetic Oil in my Unicorn... The level of oil has drop a little and I require to top it up... but the full synthetic one is not available in the market rite now... However, I have around half litre of the semi-synthetic oil (Sprinta 4000)

Can use that to top-up?? or should I change the oil completely??

Does mixing full synthetic with semi synthetic have any side effects??

                • ^^^ top it up with even mineral oil. no probs. but the life of the overall oil reduces a bit this way when compared to topping it up with same fully synth oil. But I think this is a good trade-off between functionality and expense.

                  • ??

I'm using Motul fully synth 5w 40 for my unicorn. I had replaced the engine oil a week before trip to Tirupathi. I did not find any problem with the oil, or may be it is too early to conclude?

Now, my bike is 4 years old. All the while it was running in Honda engine oil before I changed to Motul.

I need your expert advice to know which way to go in terms of oil. Thanks.

                      • ^^^ Engine oils need topup. Regular oils, you drain them by the time they'd need a topup but Synthetics you try to run them on for longer and hence the need to topup strikes you more.

So you mean to say my Fiero F2's piston rings are not going weak?

                          • Motul in Bangalore

                            Help..!
Does somebody from Bangalore know where can I find Motul 5100 around Whitefield/Marthahalli/KRPuram etc? Can't go all the way to JC Road on the weekdays and the oil change is kindof urgent.

Another query: I have been using Motul 5100 semi-synth for my Avy. Held ok for about 3k kms, the gear shifts were hard though. Any other options for semi-synth in xxW50?

Whats the feedback for the Valvoline 4t Premium? Is it readily available?

Most shops try to sell me the Castrol GTX (car oil) and get pretty annoyed when I am not convinced

                            Any pointers will help...

                            Thanks,
                            Beo

                            • ^^^ Valvoline Premium is good.
there is a Castrol GTX 20W50 available with JASO MA specification. That is for bikes. Read behind the can.

If you don't find Motul 5100 15W50 then try the Yamalube 15W50 Semi SYnth at Rs 415. Yes, expensive. But if you search for the Motul everywhere you will endup spending the balance money on your petrol.
