@speed demaon : If you want to go between power1 or castrol activ , then I would suggest it castrol activ, power1 heats the engine very much .Engine will become rough very within half and hour of riding.I would suggest Gulf pride 4t plus (20 W 40).I have tried all three and would rate the Gulf at top followed by Activ.Accidents hurt - safety doesn't

What is "basic" oil?? The HH oil is fairly good oil dude! Just make sure you avoid the one made by BPCL. And fill only from genuine sealed bottle. It is mineral. If you want better stuff, you can try Gulf or Elf or Veedol (10W30 only). Out of these the 1st one is semi-synth. Not sure about Veedol.Originally posted by satan69in View Posthi...a basic doubt.cousin is having a passion pro with the engine oil grade being SAE 10w30 SJ Grade JASO MA( brand : hero honda 4T Plus)......is this a synthetic or a semi synthetic or a mineral oil?AFAIK i think its mineral oil given by the service guys as basic oil...i would like to know if we can put in fully sythetic oil in this bike and if so what brand...thank you
You can try fully synthetic, but the recommended grade is not yet imported. Nearest grade is 5W40 Motul.

hi folks,
i am having yamaha gladoator type-ss, & have done 1200 KM as per the odo reading . i have my 2nd bike servicing due on 12dec,2009. currently i am using yamalube 20w40 grade oil which is mineral.
i want to know t8 should i switch to castrol active 4t mineral type of the same grade, also using syenthtic type oil causes the wear & slippage of the clutch is it true ?? how to shift to fully syenthetic type oil ...i mean what should be the process i.e. first switch to semi syenthetic then fully syenthetic oil like wise ....... any other recommandation by your side.
what about the warranty that comapny provide with bike if you use only yamalube.

Switch to something better dude, not worse!
Synth oil does not cause clutch slippage, provided it is ment for bikes. No special process needed to make the switch... except that its better to use mineral oil for the first 1 - 2 k km.
Is it written that Yamaha will decline warranty if other lubes are used? Ask for it in writing...
(Psssssst.... you don't have to tell anyone what you are using)

Why don't you try the Yamalube semi-synth 15w50? I have been using it on my R15&it lasts upto 4K kms.with hard ripping&touring included. That ways you wouldn't have any warranty issues too, cost about Rs.430 p.l.Originally posted by sudhanshu_gore View Posthi folks,

Mineral Oil is best during the running in period. I would suggest stay with the OE Oil till about 4000-5000 kms and then shift to a semi synthetic oil.Originally posted by sudhanshu_gore View Posthi folks,

Firstly dont go for Castrol Activ. Secondly whatever you use, make sure it's XXW40 and not XXW50 grade. For the Gladiator, XXW50 grade isnt recommended. Atleast not from my side. I tried Motul 5100 15W50 as an experiment and though it lessened out the vibrations and increased the mileage, the acceleration went down since the oil is thicker than recommended.Originally posted by sudhanshu_gore View Posthi folks,

XXW50 grade oil would do all right in the R15 but not the Gladiator since the latter's engine runs cooler.sigpic
