  • Corelation between engine flushing and subsequent oil leaks

    hey guys,

some people have reported about oil leakage on their bikes (some pulsars and some CBZs too) after changing over to certain synthetic oil formulations such as Motul 300V.

I was wondering if there is a co-relation between engine flushing and this subsequent leakage.

Can all members who have faced this leakage problem after shifting to Motul 300v or other double ester synthetic oil, confirm if they did a engine flush before pouring in the 300V ?

Similarly, can pulsar or cbz owners who have shifted to 300v but ARE NOT facing leakage, confirm that they DID NOT do an engine flush before pouring in 300V ?

Instead of the double ester oil, is it the engine flush that is weakening / eating up the seals ?

    REQUEST to MODERATORS:
If this has already been addressed before kindly delete this post.

    Thanks.

There once was a woman who was quite begat.
She had three babies named Nat, Pat, and Tat.
She said it was fun in the breeding,
But found it was hell in the feeding
When she saw there was no tit for Tat.

very very few people did engine flush.

it is the double esters that are acting up.

      • I saw some oil leaking out of my bike on the very next day...But when I inquired, found that it was leaked from the chain due to overflow. The color was complete black which confirmed me the same..After that havent faced any leakage issue as such...

        • Its one week since I changed to 300V on my RTR180. Earlier I used 5100 semi for around 2k kms. No leakages with either the semi or the fully synthetic oil of Motul.

          • 10W 40 300V = NO leakage + smooth gear shift's
            5W 40 300V = + Hard gear shift.

            anyone know why .

^^^^ Initially I too had hard gear shifts with 5W 40 300V. But once it crossed over 1500 km . It became smooth, Ride it for some more kms then it will be fine.

is there any difference in gear shift when the engine is cold or when it is hot?

Has the gear shift become hard or clunky? sometimes all that is needed is a little adjustment to the clutch cable.

RX100 stock grade is 20W40. You may use 10W40 happily.

I'm glad to hear that but am a little surprised to hear a Pulsar not leaking oil from seals with 300V. Touch wood.

                              • guys, any idea how much this oil costs

                                Shell Advance VSX4 10W-40..

And can just drain the mineral oil (veedol 20w40) currently in my bike and pour this without changing the oil filter ??

(i'm worried because around 50-100ml of the previous mineral oil will still be left in the oil filter and i want to know if mixing this with the SS oil will cause any adverse effects to oil)
