      Hay guys I hav a serious worry…
I just did a 550 km tour on my new honda shine,, its has now done 2200km in total ,
For the first 1000km I was careful with the acceleration (drove below 50kmph at low rpm n did 2 servings), but wen I made this tour of 550 km I ripped the bike to its max…and I got a mileage of just 39kmpl on the highway n the sound has changed ..wen the Honda guys checked it thr was very less engine oil left,,all they wanted me to do is “oil change”,, they said its due to fast riding no big issue(wtf),,,then I called up castrol bike zone,,they said it’s a serious problem (but wanted to check the bike 1st b4 making conclusion) n they suggested I should 1st take it to Honda guys as the bike is in warranty,,,
i dint take it to bike zone coz I don’t wanna use their oil
Now I am confused what should I do…wer did my oil go(Honda oil 20w40) ,I checked it b4 the tour.
Pleas suggest me what to do…n what engine oil should I use now??

pleas b fast its a engine without oil

      • ^^^ Dude since your bike is under warranty check with the Honda service center itself. I dont think honda engine oils will be that much bad. If there is any problem with any of the parts also they can change it under warranty.

It can easily last for 5k kms There is a filter but it is of the centrifugal type(not conventional). For cleaning it, u have to remove the crankcase. It is not necessary to do this for atleast 10k kms.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

            My suggestion:

            1. As the bike is under waranty. don't let anyone but service center touch it.

            2. take it to as many mechanics as possible. get there opinion. but don't let them do anything. take it to castrol. get advice.

            3. keep checking oil. less oil is OK. BUT don't ride in 'NO OIL' OR engine will burst. engine / piston.. something would need to be changed in new bike..

            4. why you told the service center, that you ripped. now they can charge you anything, if any part is replaced, as not following run-in.

get your advice/diagnostic complete. If putting the engine oil does it, GOOD!

            otherwise if this is some part defect;
THIS TIME GO TO SOME OTHER SERVICE STATION .. and tell them some prob with bike and I know nothing about it.. make sure you have some engine oil inside.. otherwise they will understand..
good chance that they willl replace it under warranty..

hurry up.. check your engine oil level dude.. best of luck..

            • well..
              very rough analysis..

less engine oil --> replace engine oil and see for next time, how it goes..
no engine oil --> engine/piston will go kaput.

Castrol bike zone people would give you better advice.. but don't let them do anything..

                • Query regarding engine oil level

I have Bajaj Discover 135. It has done 1.5k kms and I have recently changed oil to Petronas Sprinta 2000 20w40. When I start my bike in the morning, I find that the engine oil level drops below minimum level, even though it is near maximum before starting. It is some kind of problem?

Engine oil level is to be checked only when the engine is turned off. Put on the center stand, and check the level after 10 mins or so.

After starting, the oil is pumped to the internal components of the engine, hence the level decreases.

                        • Guys, I have a 4000km old FZ-16. What brand of 20W40 engine oil do you guys recommend? I basically like my bike to run smooth and efficiently, I don't care much about the performance.

                            Your bike is new
so dont go for semi synthetic or full synthetic

Stick to mineral oil till 2nd service [2.5k Kms]

I will suggest you Motul 30004T 15W50 or Motul 30004T 20W50 [both are mineral oils]

                            remember
Always use correct grade oil xW50 as for 180

Zma is suggested a 10W30 grade oil U dont have much of options there. Gulf Pride is an option. Or Motul 300V 5W40. Or HH stock oil.
