    Please suggest me.................
Castrols are not bad. Make sure you get original stuff. If you keep changing engine oil in time, don't leave the bike unused for long and don't use counterfeit stuff then your engine should be clean with almost any oil.

You can give another try to the Gulf. See if it makes a difference. I have noticed that when you use better oils the second time you use it in a row it shows better results.

Thanks. Next time I'll go for gulf. I was satisfied with it and no more experiment.

        which one is that
I am using Petronas Mineral 20W50 oil which is API-Sg, the reason is there are no better engine oil's(mineral) are available in my region.its hard to find even Valvoline 20w50 and i donot want to use castrol Activ 20w50.

As such, I don't think any motorcycle oil in India is still coming in SG grade. Please let us know if you find one.

BTW, not all engines may be happy with an SL & SM oil instead of SG or SJ. The SL & SM oils are thinner. If the engine clearances are higher these oils might make their way to the combustion chamber a little easier. Same applies to worn out engines. That's theory. Practically, I dunno what engines/bikes might dislike the new grades. Even the first Made in India engine (Victor) is happy with SL & SM oils.

        Petronas Mineral oil is API-SG.

              • Engine Oil for RTR 180

                Hello everybody...

I have recently bought a RTR 180 and the engine oil used for that is TVS TRU4 mineral oil 20W40.

But I feel that the oil is not so good. So can I use any other mineral oil?? Please recommend me the best mieral oil in 20W40 category...for RTR 180

Or can I go for a semi-synth oil when the bike is new?? Will it cause any harm..?? Or should I wait till some kms are done???

I do not want to go for a fully synth oil at present....

Please advise me on this. also please recommend which will be the best semi-synth oil for the RTR 180...

                Thanks....

Do not go to Semi when the Bike is New - let it run for some 3k to 5k to settle
Then you can go for Semi
I would rather advice you to stick with the TVS Oil Itself upto to I year (till all the free services)
If you still insist go for Motul or Gulf 20W40 Oils.......

                    Thanks..
Ya the bike is new....OK i will not go for semi-synth now...
But the mineral oil I am using TVS TRU4 is not so good....so i thought of changing the oil....
Is is really necessary to stick to the TVS oil till the free services finish....
or if I change the oil then will the warranty be void???
I mean i will use mineral oil itself but of other make....will the waarnty be void??

So you say Motul and Gulf are good oils.....so i will think to go for any of those...i really do not want to stick to tvs oil for 1 year...

Generally speaking if you are using right grade oil it should not be a problem.. so you decide yourself if you can take this small risk ( depends on how good is your rapport with your service centre)

Apart from Motul & Gulf you can also try for Elf moto 4 gold which is 20w40 & is a really good oil.

You can go in for the Motul Mineral oil too. Alternately, you can also use the Shell Mineral oil. I have used both of them and found them to be good.
