Ok now my question to you is:
I was smelling some bad engine oil when ever I stop at traffic signal. What I found was my engine seal was leaking so I get it repaired after that no smell but when I chnaged my engine oil the oil level drop a bit in figures around 600ml was there out of 1000ml ok I was not satisfied with that..so I showed it to the mechanic he said my engine cylinder is gone and this is why my bike is consuming lot of oil.I asked him how so he revved the engine he showed me some black and some amount of white smoke so I asked one more expert on this he said your piston ring must be gone
and this is all happing after when I changed my valve set.
+1 more point I think the bikes blow 2007 model can't handle Synthetic oil.
Well, zayn .It all depends on who does the work ,i mean the person/s should know what they are doing .The personnel at service centers wont have the capability to check the valve train and it is a job left to people who are good at it and the service centre guys also take such works to lathe people.
So it might have been a messed up job .The best way to check the fault area is to find out where the compression is leaking from.
Coming to the replacement of the rings issue ,95% of the time replacing rings will only be a temporary solution and it is always safer to get the block re-bored.

for u r situation best to stick with gulf or u can try motul though comes at a price.
Keeping in mind that my bike has done just 1400km... Is it safe to switch to gulf pride 4t plus...??? and do you think using gulf will lapse my warranty... whats the cost...

      • Going to the US, whats the best oil to bring back for P180 ug 3

so yeah going to the US and want to know what the best oil is to bring back for my p180 UG3? I ride above 80kmph frequently and drive 30 to 40 km min a day... I'll be able to bring about 5-6 litres back with me hopefully..... if not more... was thinking about amsoil 15w50? is that the best? also will it be ok for me to switch to say motul 5100 techno syn w50 after I finish all the amsoil bottles or would it be better for the engine to just stay consistent with motul 5100 from the start.... I'm so pissed right now( bloody castrol bike zone had kept on putting power 1`oil in my bike and telling me its ok... and I asked other places too and they said its good oil for my pulsar... no wonder it was heating up) will putting amsoil or motul 5100 reverse any damage the castrol power would have caused?

No not at all your warranty wont void just refuse when they say oil change you say not needed not else to explain or much to say.

@dggopal: Simply go to synthetic oil with proper grade like the oil should be 00W50,05W50,10W50,15W50 or 20W50 well I think 10W50 and 15W50 synthetic oil will work perfect for your bike.

Why do you want to take the pains of getting oil from the US when you can get good ones here in India. Besides, how do you plan on carrying it? Are liquids allowed in baggage? Just stick to Motul 5100 or an equivalent oil.

            • Instead of buying oil in u.s it would be wiser to buy some performance enhancing product like MSD set or performance filters .

              • mannn my baby let her hair down today

DUUuuudeeeee.... I put motul 5100 today.... before castrol was putting power 1 in my bike ( fu*kers).... and I have to say... my bike( Deloris) was always a subdued bike before... never used to handle well and acted a bit like an old lady sometimes but I always sensed a crazier side.... BUT today..... she let her hair down and put on the red lip stick.... and man she was soooo smooth.... Was zooming at 80 at a cool 7000 rpm ( im a heavy guy man... 100 kilos) and I couldn't believe it... the whole bike changed... Thanks guys for all the right advice... gonna stick to Motul 5100 from now on unless you guys have any better suggestion( maybe suggest a fully synthetic oil that doesn't cause oil seal problems in pulsar ug3?)

BTW what is a MSD set? and what filters exactly are you talking about? can you tell me what I should get for my pulsar 180 UG3 and if it is able to be directly fitted or via "juggad" I was also thinking of changing to iridium or platinum spark plugs.... I want to make the sound of the bike deeper too... if its possible? what can I do for that?

                • Engine Oil

                  Hello Biker!

                  Compliment of the Season!!

I have a question which some of you may find funny, but its a big question for me since I dont have much knowledge when it comes to Engine Oil.

I own a Pulsar 180 UG4 and the owners manual suggest that the engine oil grade should be 20W50. I found only one engine oil with the specified grade and that is Castrol Active Xtra however, it seems that in the market it does not have a good reputation. Even the dealer told me that its a OK engine oil but did not give me any reasoning.

Pls help me with this and do let me know if there is any other Engine oil that I may use with the specified Grade. Also, would like to know which is the best oil in this category.

Also, if someone could shed some light on the difference between 15W40, 20W40, 20W50 etc grade engine oil.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

                  Regards,

The Mineral oil you can go for with 20w50 grade are:
1>Valvoline But this oil is of synthetic blend
2>Motul 15w50 Best oil in my opinion
3>Petronas Sprinta 2000 Cheapest oil but ok ok
                      4>BPCL Mak 4T 20W50
                      5>Servo 20W50 4T
Both 4 & 5 no oil you can get on petrol pumps
6>Elf Sporti 20W50 can't find it difficult to find

I will recommand you to go with Motul Mineral

                      Now
You cannot use 20w40 in 20w50 company recommended oil like for example take 20w40 oil 20 is the viscosity index rating of the oil at 0C less the number better it will flow this is good for cold places help in flowing in engine and 40 is the Viscosity index rating of the oil at 100C bigger Viscosity index less flowing nature of that oil now if I use 20w40 in a recommended 20w50 then engine will not behave normal oil will not stick to the engine wall and become useless early then the time period and could evaporate.Use always 20w50 oil which Bajaj pulsar 180 dtsi recommended grade engine oil.Now if we use 10 or 15 VI rated oil in place of 20 then oil will circulate more easily in engine then the company recommended VI which was 20 but most impotent is to stick to W50 VI rating because using this will help oil to stick to engine wall more easily but W40 will hamper the cooling of the engine + engine will become rough and in the end internal damage.
In the end using wrong grade engine oil will lead to rock solid clutch + gear slippage + damage to engine always go with W50 VI rating no problem in less 10,15,20 skinny is the oil better it will flow in engine

                      • hmmm

as far as I understand it you can use a variety of oils not just 20w50... that is the minimum but even 15w50 or lower than that is ok as long as the 50 is constant and the number on the left is lower than 20... am I right guys?

i just changed my oil yestrday to motul 5100 techno syn and its great... depends really on what you want... synthetic, semi synthetic, or mineral? for synthetic there is motul 300 which is good but i dunno if its ok for pulsar UG4 as in UG3 it has a rep for sometimes eating away the oil seal... dunno if that is there in the UG4 model too... otherwise just search this thread there are plenty of options... petronas is also there... umm valvoline 4t is there... just go through it...

It depend on user he was asking for mineral oil and oil eating is common in all pulsar but seal leeks because of synthetic oil for this there is a chemical reason of molecules. But the user uses synthetic oil after running in continuously after running in then engine become use to it (wear and tear).

Nice to hear that the old girl after a drink of 395 bucks became raunchy !!.Hope that you get lucky with her !! .My advise is ,if she's in the mood to seduce you ,try and get her off the crowded streets and hit a romantic isolated place.Maybe an nice isolated twisty with a good straight stretch at the end? and warm her up with foreplay till the juices are flowing well AND LET HER RIP!! give her what she wants !! a nice hard revving!! and reap the benefits by making her moan and scream in pleasure !!
By the way bro!! dont forget to wear PROTECTION!!

                            • hahahaha... wayyyy ahead of you man.... I took her out for a spin yesterday night around 2am and it was great...near sankey tank.... great place to ride since one of thoads has a lot of curves...

Anyways... I have a friend who has a RTR... he is using AGIP 15w50 synthetic... is it available here in Bangalore? how expensive is it? how does it stack up against motul 5100 or motul 300v? would it still cause this oil seal problem in pulsar? Is there a way i can get the seal changed in my pulsar so that I can use synthetic oil without it leaking or worrying about it?

Nice to hear that!!.Yeah agip is available i think in many stores in jc road .Try calling sri ganesh auto spares at jayanagar 4th block their # is 26652069 and 9844107079 .Agip i believe is cheaper than motul 300v .But i must say ,from what i've heard motul 300v is the best!.Fully synthetic oils generally cause prob with bajaj bikes .But my advise is if you want to go the synthetic way try petronas 4t 5000 fully synthetic .Its cheaper than the other fs oils and DO KEEP A CLOSE WATCH ON HER THIRST FOR SYNTHETIC DRINKS AND KEEP CHECKING HER PLUG!
