Query: Mixing Gulf oil over Volvoline.

I own a P150 around 1.5 year and 20K+ KM old.. engine oil specification is 20W40..

Last time I went for Volvoline Semi synthetic.. 20W50 i guess.. bike behaved OK kind.. and didn't go for many weekend trips.. just city riding/ripping ..

it has been around 1000 KM.
planning for Pune-Hampi round trip (1200kM) next friday (Jan23)..

Now as p150s eat oli.. I can see the oil mark just below the Min mark.
I wanted to move to Gulf oil (200rs one/ 20W40) for next oil change.. so is it OK to top up with gulf over volvoline??

No you can't use Semi synthetic over mineral oil or vise-versa use SERVO 4T for your bike because you have P-150 and I am using this oil for past 700kms and this oil rocks man also used Volvoline Semi synthetic this oil also good but expensive and clutch slips after 1000kms. if your ride drinks oil I would go for SERVO 4T cheap and best or VEEDOL 10W40 is also awesome oil cost 220Rs/lit Gulf don't know but in my opinion go for 2 packs of SERVO 4T mineral or VEEDOL 10W40 you will be happy with these oil if you are going on a trip.

I have a FZ-S. and my 3rd free service is jus round da corner. Now the thing is i want to know which is the best oil for my ride. Till now i used YAMAHA LUBE. Planning to change over to CASTROL POWER 1.

YAMA-LUBE is 1000times better then CASTROL POWER 1.Stick to YAMA-LUBE you bike engine will last longer with company recommended oil

I just want to ask if it would be good if I use 10W40 fully synthetic oil - Petronas 5000 4T instead of manual recommended 10W30 oil? What can be the effect on my engine? Please advise. It's good or bad or even worse????

You can go ahead and use it. No problems. Am using it in my CBZ Extreme. Did 3.5k km till now .no difference at all. Still smooth ride and the real qualities come out at higher revs and higher speeds.

Yesterday when I had been to buy Gulf Pride 4T plus for my Hunk the delear suggested me to go for Shell Advance SX 4T... As I scanned the case I learnt its a Mineral oil (as company says"Premium Mineral Oil" I don understand the difference apart from charging extra bucks )

Has any1 used Shell Advance SX 4T....

Yes I have used Shell and trust me this oil is worth single penny. Amazing oil and last very long no clutch slippage
How much is dealer asking for shell,I got it for 190Rs.Which means cheapest of the premium oil.
Yes minerals oil are also great if you change them every month,but synthetic are also great but cause leaking due to its skinny nature.

are you serious bro? my friend's p150 Ug3 behaved strangely after putting that oil(Servo 4T) strange noises from the engine,its not like before,pickup has dropped marginally,smoothness is the same though...it was in emergency we used that oil..may be its a fake one got it for 200/- what is the original rate of that product?

yes u should drain that first,as zayn said,u cant mix mineral with semi-synthetic..may be you should try CAstrol power 1 20w40 it works wonders man,trust me..b 2500km down the line and still the engine didn't feel rough,been on a small trip,all the way rippin p150,no problems at all,make sure u get original one

If you want petronas ..see if anyone from kolkata xbhp is ordering or ordered it already. Check in xbhp kolkata thread. Should cost you between 400-500 . It is a cheaper alternative to Motul.

As far as i know, there shouldn't be any problem if you mix minor quantities of mineral or semi synthetic. There will not be any noticeable change.

It will be an good option .I am currently running-in my 200cc Fiero ,which now has over-square bore and i must say the Shell advance 20w40 mineral oil is silk smooth .Try finding a shell petrol bunk and buy the same from there .While you are at it kindly let us know about the price of the Shell Advance VSX 4T.

My engine is 2k old so Synthetic oil will be big no no... Even I'm ready to use semi synthetic oils like Gulf Pride 4T Plus or Motul 5100... But I feel Mineral oil is best for city and small casual tours... what say

In my place there is no petrol bunk... The dealer said it ll cost around 350 a lr and it was out of stock... So thought of waiting and ask you guys... I wanted to use 10W30... But before buying pack i'll try to gauge and if i feel its original product then i'll go for it... By the way If You have any tips for the please do suggest it will be helpful...

Go for the Shell 10w30 mineral oil.There are lot of spurious products of castrol in the market .So going for Shell will be a safer option.

350 bucks for a mineral oil is expensive.

Stick to the grade recommended by the manufacturer.

For a hunk the grade is 10w30 if i am not wrong. So u can buy oils of grades 10w40 or 5w40 apart from 10w30 . You should not buy 20w40
