pls shed some light on this query
dude i will share wt i know ie car has separate oil for engine and gearbox and has dry clutch plate where in our bikes oil has to all jobs ie protecting engine, gearbox, clutch etc..
so the oil has to manufacture baring all this stuff which limits its cycle
for car engine oil its solo job is to protect engine stuff , usually they use friction busters which will stick with walls of engine

actually tomo early morning I'm leaving for a 400km ride so I decided to change oil.. According to company and service station guys they tell top up oil every 2k kms and change oil after 6k kms... But still I love my bike so I decided to change oil every 2k kms than listen to company advices
if u r seriously not satisfy with sc oil u can go for gulf 10w30 which says synthetic blend but may not be true semi-synthetic, it will be surely a highly-formulated mineral oil than normal oil, so can safely go for it
fact is today every manufacturer happly calling their oils as synthetic blend

and by the way wt oil used in ur sc Mak or idemitsu( is good oil)

yes you can use. Ask in the bike ownership thread for the best alternatives. They'd be the better guys to answer the query.

not really sure but it could be due to the "wet sump" "dry sump" types of lubrication.
Usually cars in India are of wet clutch lubrication. I will try to find out more info about this. Read about it a long time ago.

At what interval or after how many kms we should flush our engines ?

Also when switching to another type like ss or fs should we flush before?
Flushing is to be done if you shift from mineral oil to synthetic(fullly) and vice-versa. don't think of flushing for atleast initial 10k km.

I think @udayrrr put in nicely. Also remember Motorcycles engines runs at much higher RPM. So using a little commonsense, I can understand that my car is running twice the distance of my bike on the same amount of engine revolution.

          • Karizma R - first service

            Hi all,

Its time for my Karizma R to take it's first servicing. I'm thinking about the engine oil change. Should I stick to what Hero Honda guys will use, or do you suggest any other oil?

            Thanks.

You shouldn't be thinking . You need to change them as it is good practice to change oil earlier than factory recommended when bike is new.

Yes, you can stick to HH oil for the time being. Though I prefer to purchase the oil from SS and change them myself. Later on you can play with other oil.

Then took a short ride. The engine was smoother and I was feeling like the engine sound had decreased a little. Every thing was perfect but as the bike goes in to higher RPM i.e. only at 60kmph it started very little vibrate and at 80kmph the vibration was very noticeable, didn’t took further. I never ever get any vibration in my engine before. And that was unrespectable.

Few things I noticed: engine oil burning smell, not experienced before.
Very less pickup than Castrol Power 1. With power 1 never feels any vibration even at 90kmph even. The acceleration was way too faster and smoother with CP1. No changes in engine heating, engine heats up same as castrol.

Ultimately personally me unhappy with Gulf, However I think its a very good oil for city ride condition. The engine smoothness and silent ness is very good but don’t know how long it could hold this.

Instantly switchback to Castrol Power 1 10w30
did u use say atleast 200-300km on it

                  • You will not be able to Judge an oil by just riding 20 or 50 kms.. For the records sake It took me almost close to 600 or 700kms to truly experience what Fully Synthetic Motul 300v is in my bike..

If you have done accordingly no issues, If not then next time please do follow..

                        • From my experience I would say 100kms is too less to Judge an oil..

You need to use it atleast for 500kms & it would be wise for you to take a small ride on highway on a sunday morning for 100kms & see how it does.

that is my way of checking oil..

                          • the thing is when you change the oil, some amount of it remains on the walls of the cylinder. When you change the oil and go for say 200+ km .. slowly that layer is dominated by the new oil and slowly the new oil shows it's properties. So without riding atleast 300-400 km , no point in criticizing an oil.

When did you change the oil ? Was it when the engine was cold or hot ?

Saw them in Crash&Boom in Bandra. Searching for Motul 300v myself for my zma. Heard there is motul distributor in ghatkopar, but no idea how to get there. No idea about south mumbai.
