Oh man. Now I know what happened to my friend's TVS star city. During one service the SVC guy told he'll put in some "special" oil in the engine so that it will become smooth. And then couple of weeks later engine kind of became jerky and then stopped. Upon inspection we find that cylinders are scratched bad, pistons are screwed. So is the cam. He had to replace all of those. But did it at a local lathe shop. Cost him 12k. For a bike that costs 40k, 12k is a lot. So dont try any "special" oil guys. Stick to the prescribed grades.

Why did you let the local mechanic's work on bike's engine?

The bike is under warranty.Make the most use out of it.

Bike was not under warranty and that mechanic was very reputed sports bike mechanic he has his own workshop chain in NCR.

            I think you are mis-informed.

Not a single RTR 180 in the country has crossed the warranty period as of now.

Use Motul 5100 semi synthetic oil or Valvoline Premium 20w50 oil. These both are best oils in the 20w50 category available in India for wet clutch bikes.

Shell Advance VSX4 10W-40. It costs 285 bucks. Is it worth it?

                              • Gulf Pride 4t Plus not available?

                                Hey guys,

Its time to change the oil in my Activa. Was hunting for my favourite Gulf Pride 4t Plus 20w40 but none of the oil shops in my vicinity had any. All gave me this answer that 20w40 comes in Pride 4T and not in 4T Plus. I have attached the pics of the new can type look of the oil. Bangalore guys, please let me if 4T Plus is available here or not.
