Synthetic oil reduces wear and tear in the engine.Originally posted by ajay_vishvanathan View Postwhether the oil is synth or not.. what difference does it make??
btw which oil is suitable for HondaUnicorn/?? any ideas??
any 20w40 oil is good for Honda Unicorn but I have seen Honda recommended oil is very good for the bike.But if your bike is new and done above 4000kms then you can use Synthetic oil use Shell Advance Ultra 10W40.Ride Safe & Ride Long-->

Motul 300v is not 5W50 its a 15W50 and don't forget your bike is Unicorn its not a 20W50 grade bike if you have option in W40 oil why not use it go for Shell or try Agrip (Made in Italy) drop Motul.Originally posted by ajay_vishvanathan View Posthmm.. i was thinking v300 motul 5w50.. is it ok??Ride Safe & Ride Long-->

I always used 20W40 in my CBZ Classic. One day on the recommendation of a mechanic, I used 20W50 and could immediately feel the difference. The gears and engine went smooth and the engine remained a lot more cooler too.Originally posted by zayn View PostMotul 300v is not 5W50 its a 15W50 and don't forget your bike is Unicorn its not a 20W50 grade bike if you have option in W40 oil why not use it go for Shell or try Agrip (Made in Italy) drop Motul.

Trust me our Indian bike don't need fully synthetic oils it our mind which gets attracts toward it,there are many FS oils in market which are good enough to Motul.Motul don't offer 20W40 FS oil in India.I always prefer SS Oil and change it ever month SS oil cost me 275Rs where as FS oil Cost 900Rs Decide your self which you prefer.Originally posted by sheelpriyeI had used Motul 300V in my Karizma once and to my horror the oil level dipped below the 'low' mark in about 1700kms, I drained the oil and forgot synthetics for good.(The color was BLACK)
But now, few people have been saying that in R15 there are no evaporation issues if it is a synthetic oil.
I know R15 is engineered differently, but can a fully synthetic oil be used for 4000kms w/o any worries(oil level and viscosity)? Would the same be true for high revving in-line twin or in-line four Motorcycles?
I do not want to top up oils in my Motorcycle, I would rather buy a cheap oil* (mineral/semi-synthetic) and change them more frequently.
Thanks
*relatively speaking of course
Oil life mainly depend on the user how is he riding his bike under which condition.In 4Valve engine oil tend to loose viscosity fast then the 2Valve engine.3500-4000Kms is enough for a FS oil.
I know a member in xbhp who told me a guy was using W90 gear oil in his Pulsar 220,so the moto is you can use anything but for a period of some time,Company has done years of R&D which oil to use in the bike and bla-bla its upto you I always recommend company recommended grade but Oil company depend on you.Originally posted by Omega Man View PostI always used 20W40 in my CBZ Classic. If you have more clarification, might as well continue with the same thread and not posting in multiple threads. By asking the same question on different section only make me to think, you are fooling around.Originally posted by ajay_vishvanathan View Postso the choice is between 15w50 and 20w50
i fixed my mind.. full synth xxw50 but..
xx=?
xx=15
or
xx=20???
which one is best for unicorn??

Dont Kill me for this !
A very stupid query I want to ask regarding oils. I know where to put brake oil and engine oil. But many times on petrol pump, people avail for some lubricant to put in the petrol tank before filling it with petrol (I remember during my childhood when my grandpa used to take me for rides and when filling up the tank of his bajaj scooter, he used to put that lubricant first in the tank) .... I want to know why is that needed and since every one seems to put the same lubricant despite different makes, I am curious to know can I also try it on my XCD-135?

thats for old engines.. its no longer needed for new bikes.. it enhances the engine functionality and better flow and combustion (not sure abt. that..) of fuel in engine.. its only for old vehicles like scooters etc.. its more for 2 stroke engines.. what we get now are 4 stroke..
correct me if im wrong anywhere.. coz i remember that a long back ago..
