Congrats for your new bike bro. The oil grade is 20w40 for ug3 and ug4 pulsar 150's.. Are you sure it is changed to 20w50 for ug4.5??
I used ELF moto 4 gold 20w40 mineral oil during run in period of bike. It was very smooth.

    • @Prabhakar150: Thanks buddy, yes, the oil recommendation for Pulsar 150 (UG4.5) is: SAE 20W50, API SL & JASO MA2.

I am aware of Motul 3000 4T, which is 20W50, but is of API SG (this standard is prior to SL). So, I am a bit hesitant in using this!

      • Sorry dude i dont know much about specifications. But mostly oils currently available in market now, would pass this. And motul 3000 4T plus is 20w40 not w50.

        • @Prabhakar150: Buddy, I am sure that Motul 3000 4T is also available in 20w50 grade, have checked it personally in a shop. Only issue was that it is API SG & JASO MA

Well, this is my first post on XBHP, however, I am following the site for more than an year. Wanted to upgrade my 10 year old Splendor, to a bigger machine. Was planning for GS150r for all this while, but settled for Pulsar, as it suited me more .

I am looking for mineral oil (Grade: 20W50) for my new Pulsar 150 (UG4.5), which is due for its 1st service shortly and has completed 550 km. Can anyone please suggest good mineral oil (20W50) with "API SL or more" and JASO MA2 (as specified in the bikes' manual)? I could not find any mineral oil with API SL or more and JASO MA2.

Is MAK 4T Plus (20W50) a mineral or synthetic oil?

I have already bought Valvoline 4T Premium, reading all good reviews about it, especially for P150. However, as it is fully synthetic, am planning to use it after 5000 km.

Congrats on your new bike.... think they changed oil grade to 20w50 as you said... anyway , i recommend you for 2 options.

            1. stick with bajaj 1000 dtsi oil till 3000kms on your odo (Mostly recommended) .....

            2. Or else , Use Motul 3000 oil ,, Its the best mineral oil you can go for.

            3. change to semi synthetic after 3000 kms , and to fully synthetic after 6000kms ....

Also , you can go for any XXw50 oil , provided XX should be more than or equal to 15 ....

Anyway , the abv two options only my mech gave to my friend who brought his own pulsie 2 months back ... When he asked similar type of your question ....

Also , dont worry of standards buddy... Nothing will happen to your engine until you remain in the same oil grade ... Problem starts only when you change your grade ....

If your so scared wheather to go for other oils or wheather its not upto the standards ... then just close your eyes and get stuck with Bajaj DTSI oil till 3000 kms buddy .....

Its true ,that only bajaj knows their bikes well than us ..

Oh my bad I dint know its available in w50 grade too. I was abt to buy 3000 plus 20w40. Since its out of stock dropped it.. If you can get it then it would be the best oil for your engine..

Thank you for your suggestions, I guess, I will stick to Motul 3000, as it is readily available in a shop close to my house.

                  • P200 Oil Change..

                    Hi all,

Lately when i contacted PBK they told me that synthetic oil is available, by that oil change interval will be 10000kms.

I am using the normal oil till this point. So a littile bit confused to use the synthetic oil or not.

But read somewhere to change to the same you need oil flushing and would be better if you never degrade...

Should i go for this. Please help?
                    Regards,
                    GinsB.

                    • oil level increasing ?

Guys got my gs150r serviced two weeks back service guys put servo 20w-40

I used to check oil level at least three days once

Now the issue is I found the oil level is increasing day by day.

                      This may sounds strange.

I think oil is looseing viscosity but withstanding the temperature thats why its not getting evoprating, thus quantity is increasing
( as the oil loseing its thickness, its becoming like water which makes it expand :-B )

Does my assumption is right ?

Do I have to change oil ?

                        • Review of Shell Advance Ultra 4T 10w40

Review of Shell Advance Ultra 4T 10w40:

I have been using this oil in my CBZ Xtreme, and have done around 5800 kms. The oil, being fully synthetic, is definitely better than the HH oils I was using earlier. The engine remains cooler, and the increase in smoothness can be noticed easily. I could not notice any changes in gear shifts, may be because the gear shift in my bike is butter smooth anyway.

The "famous" vibrations in my bike happen from 58-65 kmph. With this oil, the vibrations came down noticeably.

However, the oil has a tendency of evaporating. In the past 5800 kms, i have used 1 whole bottle (1 ltr) to top up the oil, and the oil level today was at the minimum level. And mind you, I do not rip my bike the way quite a few guys here do. My riding in the past 5800 kms has been 50% in city with the typical start stop traffic, and 50% in relatively less traffic where i maintain 70-80 kmph. So, I found the evaporation of oil a bit alarming.

(There are no issues with my bike's engine. It is not spewing visible smoke, and the exhaust tip has dry, black carbon deposits)

So, though the oil is good, I don't think it is worth the price considering the evaporation issues. I spent 745*2= 1490 on oil, and will change the oil after 6000 kms. I plan to shift to some good mineral oil, and change it every 2500-3000 kms.

However, if you plan on a race/ track day, this oil would do lots of good to your bike.

On the same note- people who are using Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 should check the oil level every week to make sure that the oil level has not fallen down below the minimum mark. If you like to rip the bike, check the oil level every other day.
