Thing with smk is that , studds is making these so parts like cheek pads and visor are available easily here. These are are things i considered while making my purchase.

Re: Helmets
Try and see the fit , mugello again doesn't have inner sun visor that's why picked up smk twister. But mugello is slightly more quieter than smk.Originally posted by Ballistic Rider View Post

Dear IJS
I might go with the SMK Twister then. I simply cannot afford to change another helmet for the next 7 years in case of shortage of spares. Maybe I can afford MT helmets in 2028
Cheers!!!

Re: Helmets
Why are you wasting money on smk, it's abs plastic, better would be to wait and increase your budget and then get Mt or some other good brand.
If budget is actually an issue then get studds for the time being and get good one later on. (btw you'll be disappointed hugely)Last edited by VivekRj.Dieselhead; 05-27-2020, 09:30 PM.Regards

Re: Helmets
I guess thermoplastic the polycarbonate are at same level. Both brands have multi density inner eps. Better Stuff is carbon fiber. And mt carbon fiber starts at 19k.Originally posted by VivekRj.Dieselhead View PostWhy are you wasting money on smk, it's abs plastic, better would be to wait and increase your budget and then get Mt or some other good brand.

Smk provides good protection and same does mt. Safety certificate is also same ece and ece is better than dot. Plus with Mt is the sharp rating.

Re: Helmets
Polycarbonate is stronger, more flexible and has higher tensile stenght, etc, etc compared to abs. Polycarbonate and abs both are thermoplastics, both have similar properties but polycarbonate is better which justifies its cost.
I think Carbon fiber, Kevlar or any ballistic material is not under consideration, otherwise options are unlimited just for the sake of argument.Last edited by VivekRj.Dieselhead; 05-28-2020, 12:21 AM.Regards

Re: Helmets
This is not a which helmet question, but this is a question regarding the RE helmets.
When i was browsing their online apparel store, I thought of looking at their helmet collection out of curiosity and glanced on the descriptions of the helmet. In the description some of the helmets had ABS Shell but helmets which cost over 3000/- have a fiberglass shell which is better than ABS and Polycarbonate. My question is, is it true that these are Fibreglass helmets? I have an idea an of helmets but i was baffled when i saw that some RE helmets have fibreglass shells.

Re: Helmets
Here are my 2 cents
Helmet shells are usually termed thermoplastic as they are made from a combination of both these thermoplastics. If you go on to check MT helmet catalogue of websites of foreign sellers, they all mention ABS shell. Which for once makes it even tough to find out the shell material.
Similarly, SMK is somewhere written as ABS too, but mostly it is EIRT polycarbonate (EIRT is SMK gimmick, just note polycarbonate)
Fibreglass is the defining choice if you want safety.
Carbon fibre is not necessarily the safest option, it's meant to reduce weight, but is fairly durable.
SHARP rating is for UK and SMK helmets not having SHARP is just because they are not tested by sharp. They might fail, they might hold good.
Also SHARP rating is not do it all.
Buy a helmet which fits you well and has ample padding for those long rides without causing any discomfort.
PS i have been using SMK, MT and Shiro for quite sometime. I would either pick a SMK or invest in a HJC/Scorpion.Last edited by MidnightEvil Parth; 05-28-2020, 08:26 PM.

Thanks a lot for the inputs
I have finalized SMK Twister. Will be buying it in July or August. The details you shared throws a lot of light over the material of construction and has enhanced my knowledge too
Cheers buddy!!!Cheers!!!

Re: Helmets
I have been using Airoh helmet and Bell helmet found that their is not so much difference in Quality and Performance and Durability. Price can be high but when it comes to safety I don't feel anyone should go for less quality because helmet is very important part of riding life. Many people just love riding and roam all the world. I think for this people should choose a helmet that actually gives them proper safety. Though this is my opinion and would like to know other people's opinion on this.
Thanks

Re: Helmets
Yeah i have always wondered why people go for a low quality(not saying they are unsafe) helmet when your brain is involved, considering many people buy mobiles costing more than 20-30k i am sure you can afford a better lid. If you have budget restraints just buy a lower priced mobile and spend the saved money on a helmetOriginally posted by riturawat55 View PostI have been using Airoh helmet and Bell helmet found that their is not so much difference in Quality and Performance and Durability. . Although, I would like to add that higher price of a helmet doesn't always mean it is safer overall.

Re: Helmets
Recently seeing a lot of Bilmola Helmets.
Anyone using it?
Personal review?
Looking for a daily helmet from a long time but need something that would suffice to replace my AGV & HJC.
Have given big thoughts to SMK, MT and even bought an Axor, But after using it for a day, I can now say I cannot.
Why Bilmola? The shape & graphics is to my liking.
Also priced decently at around 7k.Last edited by Sird; 06-25-2020, 04:15 PM.First I was Scared But then We Made a Deal
