  • Re: Helmets

Is LS2 Manufactured by vega in India ? I saw my friend's LS2 helmet with Vega written on it with ISI mark . I saw another LS2 with same vega thing .

And I am truly disappointed seeing the cheap quality/finish of the helmets . Visor is like paper thin with worst polish and finish . I got my LS2 two years back and it still looks awesome and quality has day night difference.

Has anyone else noticed this degrade quality of LS2-Vega and LS2-imported ?

Both Megha Enterprise as well as Lets Gear Up were unable to provide me with a visor. Megha Enterprise even went to the extent of telling me that I have made a mistake in going for a SOL helmet. In their opinion, SOL helmet spares are perpetually unavailable. And Lets Gear Up informed me that something may be available by the end of April, but nothing is guaranteed. Please note that these are the authorized dealers that I am talking about.

And, to top it all, [email protected] remains unresponsive. This is pathetic.

I have posted here in the hope that Spartan reps take note of this post and helps me.

The other option for me would be to ditch my 6 month old SOL helmet and go for a brand with better spares support.
Abhijeet - got your PM and also saw this message, so I looked into it.

        1. Your mail to the HelpDesk was after 9pm on Wednesday. Which means the earliest they would have received it would be Thursday morning when they came into the office.
        2. As with any HelpDesk, they follow a FIFO system addressing mails in the order that they are received. With current traffic, calls/mails/correspondence sometimes takes two days to respond to.
        3. Due to power shutdown on Friday, they were closed with Sat being the next day, also a holiday. To compensate for Friday, the staff actually came in on Sunday to handle the backlog, but were met with a second mail from you, chastising their service and also threats from you. As per SLA, that level of aggression from a customer can only be handled by an SPG staffer, which would mean Monday (today) is when you would have got a call/mail from SPG, but my intervention pre-empted that.
        4. No calls by you to the helpline regarding this issue was received or logged either, which means that SPG itself was unaware of your issue before today. In short, they had no opportunity to respond.

I humbly request that in future you refrain from flying off the handle and lambasting anybody before giving them an adequate opportunity to respond. I also spoke with Megha and LGU and they both denied your allegations too. In fact both do not carry stocks of ANY spares except for SL68 visors. Authorised dealers do not necessarily maintain stocks of spares as they are slow moving items. You should always check with the company. All that said, I have arranged your visors (I believe you wanted two?) in the Chennai Experience Centre. Please contact Satish or Sukanya on the landline number 044-24530195, for assistance and details of where you would like them shipped. They have been informed of your issue and await your call.

I hope that you are satisfied with the resolution of your issue. Cheers!

Thursday to Saturday is 3 days. That was the time-frame I had in mind as a reasonable time within which a reply may be expected. The only urgency from my side was because riding a bike with a scratched visor is almost like riding blind. I am sure you would agree with this. Also, as I did not have a spare helmet handy, my only alternate recourse would have been to get a new helmet. But, that is OK.

Regarding the "threatening" mail that I wrote, I am pasting it here as it is -

          Hi,

I was expecting a reply on this. I am disappointed by your service and will stay away from Spartan products in the future. I will also make sure to dissuade everyone from going for Spartan products.

          Regards,

Also, please mention the price including shipping for 2 visors.

To my understanding, this mail does not threaten anyone. Rest I leave to your better judgement.

Yes, my sole means of communication was via e-mail.

The allegations are true. Take it as a feedback or dismiss it as false, it is your choice.

I will contact SPG over email. Since there is a monetary transaction involved, I would like to keep track of the details over a written form.

          Thanks for arranging the visors.

              • Suggestion needed for a helmet

So, I've been searching quite long and got some really nice LS2 and THH helmets from Snapdeal( I haven't ordered them yet). The thing is, I really don't trust online sellers for these kind of things, so are these helmets the real deal or something else? Btwn I can't the LS2FF*** models in the Indian LS2 website, but NZ or Australian sites holds these records. Give me your suggestions on SOL, LS2 and THH.

Sure mate, these kind of helmets are available only when a person contacts the dealer and is interested to buy one. I had to wait for close to a month to get hold of the helmet. The dealer had only one colour (yellow) with size XL. I was not too pleased with yellow but that colour didn't matter and XL was just fine with me. For some reason, I felt the dealer should have had size L as well so that I could have selected a perfectly fitting helmet for myself, but nevertheless, I was pleased with XL sized helmet. Hope your dealer gets a helmet of your choice soon

Hey, i have a query. I have a 4 year old LS2 Dragon which i bought from Delhi. I've always tried to keep it in pristine condition, but eventually it has started withering out. The part which touches the floor if u keep it on the ground, the rubber has come out. After which the enclosed inner padding has slowly started coming out. Moreover, just recently by mistake i dropped my helmet and the visor is full of scratches. I tried finding a replacement visor, but in vain. They have the newer visors which do not fit in my helmet.
I love my LS2, but i guess 4 years is a good time to retire it and use for local (short) commute.
                      So i have 2 questions:
                      1) is there any place where i can get the visor ( mercury or transparent ) online or in Bangalore/Mysore?
                      2) which new helmet to go with. Have been constantly checking reviews of MT, sounds good but im bit skeptical of the size. I have a big head , need a XL size. ( My LS2 is XL ). Budget is around 5k , so SOL is a good option. But i dont mind spilling around a couple of grand more for HJC or others if they really are worth it !!!
PS: bike is r15, use: touring (please dont start with why on earth do i tour on r15 )
Also, eventhough i have a red r15 v1, i dont mind any color The brighter, the better im visible on road, lesser prone to accidents

I used this helmet for my honda dio. I used to travel 40-50 kmph. So i could not test the wind test on other bikes. Had a chance to check it yesterday with few chennai xbhpians. Travelled on ECR as pillion in CBR 150 & 250 R. The padding is quite good for my face. Not loose or tight one. Just correct padding. The wind test gives different test after-all.

40-60 kmph- I could not hear wind noise from the vents
                        .
60-70 kmph- Slight wind noise creeps inside the lid.
70-80 kmph- Wind noise can be heard.
                        80-100 kmph- Strong wind noise.
Post 100 kmph- I felt a lot of judder inside the lid. It's like your head is in place but your lid is shaking around your head.

It's is not safe to use beyond 100+ kmph. Best suited for city drive below 80 kmph.

Prospective buyers of LS-2: If your bike can cross 100 kmph(with-out stressing the engine rpm) please look some better make/model.
Disclaimer: This wind test is done only in LS-2 FF 350 model.

@B7ACKTHORN: With the abnormal wind test, In my lid a duplicate/fake one? Lid weight is 1.5kgs.
I have an LS2 FF350 Phobia. Even at 135km/h, the helmet sat tightly with no shaking at all. Does the helmet fit you perfectly?
Regarding the wind noise, I don't remember perfectly as I haven't ridden since 8 months. But if I try to recall, the wind noise used to start slightly from 80km/h as a very mild whistle. The noise used to become noticeable only past 100.

Locking it under the provision provided underneath the pillion seat of r15v2 is safe although its not 100% safer, better than just leaving out unlocked

Locked it under the 220 seat, someone stole it from my apartment, I can't believe some people, best part is, they left the damn armoured jacket but took the helmet, shows the level of knowledge the thieves had. B***** losers.
