For that price, and since you want a light helmet, check out the Airoh Helmets... They have some awesome graphics and start at ₹7,000... They helmets are Made in Italy, and I assure you won't get a good quality helmet as light as that in this price range... Check out the Bachoo Motors website as well as fb page. They have a dealer in Delhi, you should check that out

It goes like this - a few years ago, AGV took control/stake of Sabre Helmets in Vadodara to manufacture some of their own product line with cheap Indian labour. This factory was converted into a EOU and exports the majority of their production. However as per terms of the EOU, a small percentage of their production has to be sold in India itself. Not wanting to dilute their own prestigious brand models, they began selling the old Sabre shells (then known as MPA ) with AGV livery. These helmets were pretty popular about 4-5 years ago.

However with the arrival of cheaper and better imported helmets, these rebadged MPA helmets started losing market share and could not meet their targeted sales volumes. So the factory started offering OEM services to other companies. Fasttrack and RE are just two that they now manufacture for. Basically the old MPA shells making a reappearance under new livery. If you examine a Fasttrack helmet label, you will see the product is manufactured by Sabre Helmets Vadodara but marketed by Fasttrack/Titan Industries. In essence, Fasttrack is merely selling a rebadged Sabre/MPA helmet at a much higher price than what Sabre themselves could because of the better brand equity.. Ditto for RE. The marketing companies in this case prefer to announce a "technical collaboration" with AGV rather than talk about MPA/Sabre for obvious reasons.

To help corroborate this story, please do some research and you will find some startling similarities in the RE and Fasttrack products with the MPA/Sabre helmets.

Cheers!
Yup, this is the exact story of the RE AGV helmets! They not made with the same quality or procedures that Italian AGV uses... They just borrowing the AGV name, and unfortunately it's being done officially

My major concern are the cheekpads, they are giving me hell. I have to hold the fishmouth all the time. Sometimes I bit myself.
The rest of the fit is OK and there's no doubt about the quality here.
The next gripe is the visor. It is a bittersweet thing. It is cool coz I never felt there was a visor b4 me. so clear, but then it fogs up so easily that I can't use it until i see hot sun.[emoji35]

I don't commute much, but this thing killed all my dreams of nice long monsoon road trip. I can't even wear this to the nearest petrol bunk ⛽ 3kms away without getting scared in this Mysore weather.

Also there is no chin guard. I noticed a velcro inside near the chin vent but don't know what is it for.

Can anyone enlighten me please.
I know about pinlocks, but never thought we'd need one here. Anyway I don't think they're avaliable in India yet. Also let me know if different visors might help. Are the smoked or iridium visors available yet for the CL-17 yet?

Actually the velcro is to attach Breathbox which deflects the breath away. Chin curtains are also available for your model. Btw when i bought CL-16, i got a free pinlock insert. You can buy a pinlock insert on ebay.com.

Thanks Vasant. I know that CL-16 comes with pinlock insert. But the CL-17 unfortunately doesn't. By chin curtain I meant the cloth thing at the bottom. I have a removable breath deflector near the mouth just above the chin vent.

I am just sceptical about the eBay, will wait for some more time till it is available in India. I'll post on the fb page of the retailers and distributors (performance racing ) to enquire first.

For fogging, at the present, try to keep the visor very slightly open. As the stock CL-17 comes with the pin-lock enabled visor and not the insert, later you may ask the store you bought it from for a pin-lock insert.

Don't think having smoked or iridium visors will help you eliminate fogging. On the contrary, a smoked visor plus fog may hamper visibility even more than clear visor plus fog.

I believe the velcro at your chin/mouth area is to keep your mic in place if you use a motorcycle communicator.
Thanks for the reply TR.
I am still waiting for them cheekpads to break-in.
I've also heard a household remedy for defogging glasses; apply normal white toothpaste and gently rub off the glass. I haven't tried it though, but was told it helps for helmet visors and spectacles too.
Can anyone try and check?

Have been following this thread for a couple of weeks now! Can someone tell me what should I choose between the MT Axxis and KYT RC7 Samurai?

Amazon along with PlanetDSG are coming up with a 20% off on the KYT today morning by 9 am. I would like to purchase this if you the pros here think so it is equal to the MT Axxis.

I'm not able to find the Smoked Visor for the KYT RC7. PlanetDSG didn't respond and neither did Ultimate Auto Impex, Mumbai.

That's when I hit upon a novel idea, instead of buying a new visor. Is it possible to just tint the current one with the Sun Protection Film used on cars? I was thinking, since the application area is small, can't I just to some store and ask them to use the bit leftover from a car application on the visor? That will save me the trouble of having to pay for the entire film.

It sounds feasible to me. But is it actually feasible? :P

Mine is a long story. Let me share it with you all.
My friends are in moto vlogging and they asked me to get a helmet cam. So I started searching, I shortlisted this . But my friend went for this and I waited till he comes up with the review.
In the mean time I ventured out on net and found SJ4000 is apt replacement for Hero 3 so started searching for it. And by luck stumbled upon this (listing ended now). The price was 8999 and after ebay;s 15% off coupan , I paid almost 7500 INR only. So overall it was steal deal for me.

But now if you go and look out for SJ4000 on ebay/flipkart/snapdeal it would be around 12k-13k.
Rather there is another option available in the less price range Clickpro

Best part about SJ4000 and Clickpro is that all the Go Pro Mounts are direct fit.

One thing that differentiates SJ4000 and Clickpro is that SJ has 170degree viewing angle as compared to Clickpro's 152degrees

Point that gives Hero3 advantage is that it has mic adapter, whereas SJ4000 has in built mic which is okayish for sound but not for vlogging.

Here is a sample video from my SJ4000

I got hold of the KYT helmet that was going on sale at amazon. Got 700 off off the 3500. Seller is planetDSG. Wonder if I can contact them and ask to ship it with the tinted visor instead of the clear glass.

You got the helmet for 2800?

You will have to pay the difference amount between tinted and clear visor.

Tried. Apparently, the products are in amazon's warehouse and it's amazon's discretion whether to do that or not. But they also said, they haven't shipped tinted visors to amazon yet and so it's a lost cause.

Regarding tinted visors, they have only the blue one (as shown on their site). The stock of the smoked ones would arrive only in december. (cc ashwin.terminator )

Had also asked them why their authorized reseller, (Helmet paradise, Bangalore) overcharges the potential customers and it led to a couple of mail exchanges

We regret the problem you faced with one of our resellers in Bangalore. We have spoken to him and he informs that customers harass for discounts so they quote 4000 and offer for 3500 . Perhaps just a marketing ploy.
I guess you have no problem with your resellers being cheap and quoting higher prices than the actual. Makes me wonder if the DSG stores and the online stores too quote extra price too.
I am sorry if my previous reply gave a wrong impression. As I am quite sure you are well aware, we do not overcharge any customers online or at our store.

In fact based on your previous message and the reply received from reseller, we have instructed our dispatch team to place additional MRP stickers on visors of all helmets shipped to Helmet Paradise along with the existing ones on the helmet boxes. This should resolve the problem in future.

Regarding the dark smoked visors, those are presently unavailable and only tinted units are in stock. Smoked model will be available from December
